Many popular Indian apps, including job search app like Naukri, and matrimonial apps like Bharat Matrimony and Shaadi have been removed from the Google Play Store.

Google and Indian Startups in Dispute

There is a dispute between Google and some Indian startups, where latter wants to stop Google from imposing a fee of 11% to 26% on in-app payments.

Fees for In-App Purchases

Google charges app developers a fee for in-app purchases made through the Play Store. Google says this fee helps maintain and develop the Play Store ecosystem.

Indian Startups Unhappy

Many Indian startups argue that Google's fees are unfair and stifle competition. They say the fees reduce their profits and make it harder for them to compete with larger companies.

Google Defends Fees

Google says that most app developers pay the fees and that they create a fair playing field for all developers in the Play Store.

Popular Apps Removed

Major apps that were removed from Google play store include Naukri.com, BharatMatrimony.com, Shaadi.com, 99 acres, kuku fm etc.
