This is underpinned by a best-in-class integrated and consistent Treasury risk framework, which enables Treasury to clearly identify the Bank's resource demands, transparently set incentives by allocating resource costs to businesses and manage to evolving regulation.
Treasury's fiduciary mandate, which encompasses the Bank's funding pools, asset and liability management (ALM) and liquidity reserves management, supports businesses in delivering on their strategic targets at global and local level. Further, Treasury manages the optimization of all financial resources through all lenses to implement the group's strategic objective and maximize long term return on average tangible shareholders equity (RoTE).
The current role is part of the Treasury Office in DBC Mumbai. The role requires interactions with all key hubs i.e. New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore with emphasis on the European region.

Function Description

The Asset & Liability Management (ALM) team inside of Treasury is responsible for modelling, measuring and managing Interest Rate Risks in the Banking Book (IRRBB) as well as other structural risks including Credit Spread Risk in the Banking Book (CSRBB). The movements in interest rates and the impact on the bank's profit via Net Interest Income (NII) has made IRRBB a key focus topic for senior management and investors.

Role Description

The candidate will report to the Head of Models within the Asset & Liability Management (ALM) function. The team oversees model development, model calibration, and monitoring of performance of the bank's quantitative and behavioural models for interest rate and credit spread risks in the balance sheet. The results are used for risk management decisions and regular internal and external reporting. The team acts as an intermediary in Treasury itself and between the business units and other central functions like Market and Model Risk Management. This gives you a unique view into many exciting, complex and important risk management topics.
This role will play an important part in ensuring the robustness, performance, and adaptability of ALM models to dynamic markets, client behaviours and evolving technology, with a prime focus on Non-Maturing Deposits, NMDs.

Your key responsibilities

The core deliverables for the role are:

Deposit model ownership and intelligence:

Own end-to-end Treasury process of NMD behavioural models across IRRBB metrics (EVE, NII)
Lead model lifecycle management, including monitoring, review, recalibration triggers, and model enhancements
Ensure model assumptions, limitations, and resulting risk outcomes are fully understood, clearly articulated, well documented, and defensible under regulatory, audit, and risk scrutiny
Enable alignment of models with balance sheet strategy, behavioural customer trends, as well as actual and anticipated industry developments
Drive enhancements in deposit data historization and behavioural analytics capabilities - leveraging automation and artificial intelligence

Deposit model calibration and hedging:

Oversee deposit model calibration processes and ensure efficiency and consistency across portfolios
Support rollout of new NMD models across portfolios and jurisdictions
Engage in single deposit portfolio reviews to ensure specific behavioural assumptions remain relevant
Translate model results into interest rate derivative hedging strategies

Deeply rooted understanding of banks balance sheets, banking book products, interest rate curves, and financial market hedging instruments
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities with a tech-savvy mind set
Ability to translate complex modelling outputs into clear business insights and required judgment challenge
High governance and documentation discipline in a regulated environment
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Confident communicator with the ability to influence without authority across first line (Treasury, Business, Trading), second line (Market Risk, Model Risk, Treasury Risk), and third line (Audit)
Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
Ability to work within tight deadlines across different teams and time zones

Your Experience

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in banking within one or more areas: Treasury, Asset & Liability Management (ALM) / IRRBB, Treasury Risk, Market Risk, Model Risk, Behavioural Modelling, Deposit Analytics
Strong track record in stakeholder management across different departments and seniorities
Data analytics and process automation experience
