Objectives of the position
We are looking for an experienced digital manager with a strong project and portfolio management skills, technical enterprise architecture and vendor management background, to continuously optimize IT landscape of BASF Agricultural Solutions Asia team. This role will:
  • ensure IT demand management & project approval process in the region is aligned globally and running smoothly
  • map out consolidated business needs and capabilities into global IT portfolio (also referred to as digital product family) and define region-specific portfolio roadmap, to constantly optimize IT total cost of ownership
  • partner with and steer IT delivery unit, to ensure a smooth ongoing operation and execution according to roadmap priorities in the region
  • be an integral part of regional digital excellence unit in Agricultural Solutions Asia, and at the same time reporting functionally to the Head of Global Agricultural Solutions IT Portfolio Group

Main tasks
  • Manage existing vendors to ensure a smooth and optimized service level delivery, working closely with procurement and contract management team
  • Accountable for all Agricultural Solutions Asia IT & Digital solutions (also referred to as digital product family), with respect to strategic development, business outcomes & budgeting, in full alignment with regional business needs
  • Prepare, define & position business-driven, forward-thinking and compliant regional Digital solution roadmap (also referred to as digital product family roadmap) as an integral part of global roadmap, collaborating closely with Enterprise Architect team
  • Responsible for business partnership, demand management & prioritization prior to Digital investment portfolio board prioritization, manage & steer project approval process in the region, with full global alignment
  • Responsible for steering and leading a community practice of digital product owners in Asia, disseminating best practices, use digital as enabler to drive efficiencies and synergies across countries
  • Provide an overview of existing digital solutions within the team and maintain the life cycle of the solutions with quantifiable KPIs of progress and business impact (in collaboration with defined digital product owners)

Minimum education and qualification requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Business Technology related discipline.
Technical and professional knowledge:
Min. 10-12 years professional experience in IT lifecycle management / enterprise architecture / data management, implemented enterprise-grade IT projects & initiatives and business partnering e.g. experienced in managing enterprise IT data / landscape complexity and continuously optimizing them with the latest relevant technology trends. Certification in TOGAF is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in modular IT enterprise & data architecture design spanning multiple platforms
  • Highly proficient to scale platform implementation, and enterprise-grade data management practices (technical security, data governance and compliance practices)
  • Highly proficient in Agile methodology, Scrum and DevOps approach in an MNC setup, with previous experience in a Scrum Master, Product Owner or Developer role
  • Proficient in data processing technologies and provisioning data services using Microsoft data management-related products, Azure cloud infrastructure (Excel, Power Query, Power BI, Synapse, DataBricks, Purview, SQL, etc) and Azure Data Factory (2nd gen onwards)
  • Strong working experience in MNCs setup, with emphasis on cross-collaboration between multi-disciplinary teams virtually across multiple time zones
  • Preferred experience in the agriculture / agronomics industry (i.e. sales operations, digital farming with drones, precision farming, agronomics data platform) or other B2C business
  • Familiar in full stack development (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python), use of serverless technologies, containers, automated deployment tools, code repository / testing tools like GitHub or Microsoft DevOps Toolset
  • Additionally preferred: Cloud certification e.g. Azure cloud components, Agile / Scrum certifications

  • Proven communication and change management skills in matrixed and virtual teams
  • Demonstrate a continuous learning, continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong communicator to bring team together with the ability to synthe complexity and translate strategy into actionable measures
  • Demonstrate a high discipline to complete tasks within project team timelines
