Cat products have been helping our customers in Thailand on infrastructure projects for more than five decades. In 2011, Caterpillar made the decision to invest in two manufacturing facilities in the Rayong province in the eastern region of Thailand. Our Caterpillar Rayong Tractor facility manufactures medium track-type tractors used in projects such as road construction, forestry, general construction and mining. Caterpillar Rayong Thailand Tractors broke their record of producing over 160 machines in a single month, additionally, the facility celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2023.

Role Definition

Leads, manages, and supports projects and supervises teams related to process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma and project management methodologies to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring performance and improvements in key metrics. Promoting the use of metrics and data to drive project focus.
  • Directing, motivating and developing staff, maximizing their individual contribution, professional growth and ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
  • Tracking financial results and reports on quantifiable goals and objectives; estimating future projects from financial, throughput, lead-time and on-time performance improvements to assist in the prioritization of projects.
  • Training and mentoring employees; educating personnel on Lean and Six Sigma methodology and identifying the best projects for implementation.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Seeks discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; explains variances.
  • Organizes and prioritizes the sequence of steps to be taken to remedy the situation.
  • Identifies many possible causes for a problem based on prior experience and current research.
  • Quantifies the costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action.

  • Chooses among a diverse set of analytical tools according to the nature of the situation.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.
  • Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects.
  • Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.
  • Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
  • Produces standard project status reports.
  • Six Sigma Methodology: Knowledge of the concepts of six sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology; ability to use the methodology to improve the manufacturing processes and control the improvements by eliminating root causes.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Analyzes business priorities for selecting potential critical metrics.
  • Uses tools (e.g. trend charts, Pareto charts, sigma conversion chart) to measure historical performance.
  • Researches important causes that have an impact on quality and customer satisfaction with the use of statistical tools.
  • Resolves routine problems in a cost effective manner.
  • Reports deviances from process improvements.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
  • Organizes potential problem solvers and leads problem resolution efforts.
  • Uses varying problem-solving approaches and techniques as appropriate.
  • Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
  • Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.
  • Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.
  • Coaching Others : Knowledge of coaching and mentoring concepts and methods; ability to encourage, motivate, and guide individuals in learning and improving effectiveness.

  • Determines how coaching can be applied to a situation.
  • Coaches others to improve their skills.
  • Observes skill practice; offers constructive feedback.
  • Offers suggestions for performance or process improvement in own unit.

  • Develops basic persuasive arguments.
  • Discusses organizational culture around providing input on decisions.
  • Uses active listening skills and probing techniques to surface opportunities to influence.
  • Identifies who the decision makers are and how they receive information.
  • Regularly presents ideas or suggestions to associates in persuasive terms.
