What you’ll achieve
In this role, you will work as a Regional Commodity Manager, reporting to the Procurement Director, Ocean freight Procurement, responsible for execution of our global procurement strategy for Ocean freight Logistics within both our Finished Goods and Services Parts lines of business. You will enable the implementation of our global procurement strategy for Ocean freight Logistics by driving alignment across the procurement and regional stakeholder/supply base.
You will:

  • Proactively manage Ocean contractual expiry and compliance tied to the global category strategy

  • Increase the visibility of spend and the portion of spend under contract and being actively managed as well as manage 2nd tier transactional approvals and process/policy compliance

  • Understanding key cost drivers and monitoring regional risk / opportunity

  • Enhancing internal stakeholder engagement that enables opportunity for increased procurement contribution to business challenges within the Ocean freight Logistics category.

  • Leverage appropriate cost modelling techniques utilizing up to date market intelligence to ensure our cost structures are delivering better than market outcomes

Essential Requirements

  • 8 to 12years of procurement experience as a category manager or similar role or 2+ years of procurement experience as a category manager with project/program management capabilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Global Ocean freight market and the dynamics in the market that influence price and drive cost for the operators

  • Delivering cost improvement through the execution of regional sourcing plans and managing RFI/P, as appropriate, via e-procurement tools (Jaegger)

  • Experience working within a large, global, center-led procurement team working for a remote line manager

  • Should have analytical capabilities including report development and analysis with hands on experience in excel and Power BI as well as making data-driven recommendations and decisions

  • Strong presentation and persuasion skills with an ability to clearly communicate across all levels of the organization

Desirable Requirements

  • Have a strong awareness of supply market and leverages such within spend management process

  • Able to develop and execute multi-year procurement strategies to meet GFL&T and Dell objectives

  • Able to storyboard concisely, articulate key messaging clearly and deliver effectively to enable influence and buy in to desired outcome

  • Previous experience leveraging e-procurement tools (Jaegger)

  • Natural presence and credibility that enables influence at an executive level
