The role

Delivers excellent and timely technical/scientific knowledge and design that contributes to products that meet customer interests, through effective planning and application of Learning First Product Development methodologies and processes.

Expert Workforce - leads, coaches and develops a team to enable high performance. Knowledge Management grows and manages technical knowledge of the functional area for future reuse. Deliver to Project and Business Goals deploys team to deliver on time, accurate knowledge, and tasks for current and future product activities. Ensures design for quality methodology is followed. Achieves product

delivery goals as agreed with the Chief Engineer.

Role Responsibilities;-

Develop and Lead an Expert Workforce

  • Practices Product Development values: Share all knowledge, keep it simple, trust and respect our people, relentlessly improve everything we do.
  • Executes team and management requirements to achieve business objectives (e.g., leave liability reduction).
  • Engaged in knowing capabilities & motivations of team members. Allocates work & facilitates development accordingly.
  • Establishes clear direction and maintains a regular two-way dialogue with team members on work and results.
  • Shares both responsibility and accountability with team members.
  • Ensures appropriate use of set-base thinking.
  • Ensures individual team members engage in responsibility-based planning.
  • Provides timely feedback on team and individual performance.
  • Will sense what will help or hinder accomplishing a goal facilitates the elimination of roadblocks.
  • Coaches, mentors, and teaches individuals in best practice (e.g., LFPD and others).
  • Facilitates, via personal knowledge plans (PKPs), development and extension of team members to improve productivity and meet individual career aspirations.

Knowledge Management

  • Keeps up to date with knowledge in current and possible future practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the appliance industry that contributes to a functional plan.
  • Has a thorough overview of the Functions stored knowledge to maintain relevancy and reuse.
  • Ensures reusable knowledge is captured, recorded, and shared via good quality A3s.
  • Ensures the quality of knowledge reviews and cross-functional involvement.
  • Deliver to Project and Business Goals.
  • Delivers a comprehensive design/technology/fiscal plan for the functional area.
  • Effectively organises people and activities against a current resource plan.
  • Interprets and communicates project vision to functional and individual goals and objectives.
  • Advocates the requirement of team members to communicate cross functionally to allow collaborative development. Builds positive & constructive relationships with other Leaders.
  • Reviews plans within the function to ensure dates that drive both product delivery, and the narrowing of design choices are met.
  • Applies the Levels of Perspective framework to understand and identify gaps and implement value-added and sustainable improvements.
  • Contributes to initiatives for process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Engineering/Science Tertiary Qualification

Experience

  • Position is for an experienced leader who has an in-depth cross functional understanding of the business and has a proven passion for developing others and delivering to customer expectations.
