Global Digital Services is supporting BASF business in Digitalization transformation. Our mission is to drive the digital transformation of BASF, providing innovative, global and high-quality digital products and services through a strong agile culture. The Digital Hub Kuala Lumpur is one of our global key locations to deliver regional and global solutions for BASF.
Our product team Internet Web Security and Visibility holds end to end accountability for the following global products in BASF:
  • Web Security: Secure and performant Internet access service for users, servers and IoT devices Web application firewalls to protect web applications on premise and in Cloud environments
  • Visibility: Network and Application Performance monitoring

Our team is globally spread and collaborates closely with the neighboring teams in our product family Connectivity Platform.
We are driving the transformation of BASF's internet access service from a proxy-based solution design to a next generation firewall-based setup in the context of BASF's cloud strategy.
As part of BASF's AIOps community our Visibility product team is fusing BASF's IT monitoring solutions to BASF's AIOps core, an AI enabled data lake to enable identification, prediction and prevention of IT incidents, capacity management and many more use cases. While DNS/DHCP experience is highly welcome, the focus of this position will be on Web Security and Visibility.
Main Tasks
  • Take over and steer work packages in complex projects including collaboration with internal business partners and external companies (e.g. Cyber Security initiatives, M&A)
  • Keep system running: solve complex operational incidents and changes using creative and new approaches where legacy solutions fail
  • Contribute to development of strategic product roadmap. Have BASF's strategic goals in mind and apply them to the development of our products.
  • Own sub-products end-to-end, e.g. Cyber Security aspects such as DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) protection
  • Steer contractors from individual level up to enterprise managed service contract level and train (onboard) and lead contractors
  • Drive international, intercultural and inter-organizational initiatives. Lead the ramp-up of the team's footprint in the Asian region.
  • Coach less experienced colleagues

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree / University degree / University of applied Sciences degree (IT, Business IT) is required
  • Additional, job specific education: Well-known certifications around networking, Cloud and Cyber Security (e.g. CCxP, professional level certifications from Palo Alto Networks, CISSP). Alternatively, proven experience in BASF's connectivity environment
  • Excellent English skills mandatory Standard Mandarin welcome but optional
  • Project and leadership education enabling the candidate to take accountability for initiatives and projects and to coach less experienced colleagues

Working Experience
  • Minimum 8+ years relevant job experience in at least 2 different positions
  • Strong background in network, server and cloud administration with a strong security focus in large-scale enterprise environments
  • Agile Methodologies
  • ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) Processes
  • Extraordinary analytical thinking, a high level of self-reliance.
  • Applicants must be self-confident and able to be part of a globally spread, virtual team. Ability to communicate and collaborate as a team player within and outside the team, e.g. with business stakeholders, is key.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, methods and skills is essential
  • Applicants must be culturally fluent and have excellent time-management skills
  • Has architected, designed, built and run a mid to large , secured internet access environment
  • Resilience. Internet connectivity is vital to BASF, and disturbances have an immediate impact on our production and logistics processes.

  • Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access, Global Protect
  • Palo Alto Networks Next Generation Firewalls
  • (Cisco) routed and switched networks (Architecture, Troubleshooting)
  • Network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, Fiddler)
  • Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, 21Vianet)
  • Network Performance Monitoring (NPM), Application Performance Monitoring (APM) with tools such as Riverbed, Aternity, Zabbix, Palo Alto ADEM, Cisco Thousand Eyes
  • Provider management skills
  • F5 ASM or other web application firewall products
  • F5 LTM
  • DDoS Protection
  • Grafana or other visualization platforms
  • SASE in general (if not Prisma Access then ZScaler knowledge might be of use)
  • Enterprise class IPAM / DNSDHCP solutions such as QIP, Bluecat, Infoblox
  • Broadcom ProxySG
