Job Description

Role Description:

We are looking for a Team Leader who is not afraid to get technical with the team and walk through code. The manager will play an integral role in the leadership and mentoring of teams developing and maintaining real time products using a range of technologies.

They will be involved in the design, development, integration, enhancements, deployment, and maintenance of processes and components which span a broad range of functionality. While constantly driving innovation and working on complex technical challenges every day, this team member will work closely with business users, project managers and other team members to understand business requirements, design and develop quality technical solutions that are aligned with the business and Platform strategies while ensuring compliance with the organization's architectural and coding standards.

In this role, the Team Leader will also be responsible for helping to troubleshoot complex support issues on an as needed basis. They will be responsible for leading a team of developers responsible for their components and providing realistic estimates and forecasts for the teams work. This team is part of a larger organization that spans the globe and there may be occasional support issues or meetings that could occur outside of core hours.

Key Responsibilities:


Solution development and delivery including:

  • Execution of development and strategy
  • Provide technical direction for the development, design and systems integration from definition phase through implementation
  • Applies knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our users
  • Review the work of the development team
  • Easily recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutions
  • Foster an environment of engineering excellence and innovation. Understand the strategic designs and the tradeoffs with tactical choices if required
  • Keep technical debt in check. Ensure teams are building using modern practices and approved tools & patterns. Recognize and act of your responsibility for driving change for the entire development community
  • Work with functional specialists, understand business processes and translate functional specifications into technical requirements
  • Work together with and lead other developers, business analysts and product owners to ensure that new or modified applications are developed using industry standard best practice design and development practices
  • Technical and Team Leadership, People Management, Strong written and speaking communication skills.
  • Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor team members
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions


Technical Experience:

  • Experience with C/C++ (preferred) or other Object Oriented programming languages in a multi-threaded environment
  • Familiarity with network programming and/or functionality - TCP/IP, UDP multicast, REST, Websockets are all desirable - the more the better
  • Experience working with and developing software on Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Agile development experience a strong plus


Work Experience & Education:

  • Team leadership experience is a very strong plus, but open to team members starting their journey in leadership if they exhibit the right skill sets.
  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or IT related field
  • Background in Financial Services Technology preferred
