A senior BIM Civil Design Hydropower Project

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Senior Civil Design Engineer position based in Bangkok, Thailand, focused on hydropower projects. The role entails designing and developing civil and structural engineering solutions for hydropower plants, including site analyses, feasibility studies, and ensuring compliance with regional standards. Responsibilities include project planning, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, overseeing design deliverables, and providing technical mentorship. Additionally, the role involves ensuring the implementation of sustainable design practices aligned with hydropower engineering best practices.

About you:

You will be an experienced Civil Engineer who is, ideally, Chartered or Incorporated with the ICE or working towards this, with experience in the civil design of at least one of the following;

• Dams (or dam components)
• Hydro and/or pumped storage hydro schemes
• Design and assessment of complex hydraulic structures (channels, culverts, bridges, spillways, stilling basin).

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate civil engineering experience and skills in the dams and hydro sector. However we are keen to hear from you if you have aligned water and energy sector experience, such as the civil design. You will have a good understanding of how the various disciplines within the sector come together to create an integrated solution.

You will be experienced in producing technical specifications, designs, and reports, integrating closely with associated disciplines including structures, geotechnical and M&E and, ideally, with experience in preparing designs for both end user clients and D&B contractors.

You should be comfortable working within a full 3D environment using appropriate tools to sketch and review models and within a common data environment.

Qualifications:

• Professional expertise in Civil and Structural Engineering, particularly in hydropower projects and renewable energy infrastructure.
• Proficiency in project planning, site analyses, structural design, and compliance with local and international engineering standards.
• Fluency in relevant engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and structural analysis tools.
• Strong capabilities in project management, team coordination, and leadership, with a focus on mentoring junior engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
• Master's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with significant experience in hydropower or infrastructure projects.
• Prior international project experience and familiarity with cross-cultural work environments are beneficial.
• Fluent in Thai and English
