Job Description

Company Description BauCon International ZT GmbH, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, is a leading civil engineering consultancy specializing in innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions worldwide. The company has particular strength in hydropower engineering, including pump storage and run-of-river plants, supporting the global transition to renewable energy. Its services cover structural engineering, bridge and ropeway systems, industrial and commercial facilities, gas pipeline infrastructure, transmission line design, and special structures.

Role Description The Senior BIM Civil Design Hydropower Project role is a full-time, on-site position based in Bangkok. This role is responsible for leading BIM-based civil design for hydropower projects, including pump storage and run-of-river plants, from concept through detailed design. Day-to-day tasks include developing and coordinating 3D models, preparing design drawings and documentation, and ensuring alignment with project specifications, safety standards, and local regulations. The position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, participation in design reviews, and providing technical guidance to junior staff and external partners. The senior professional will also support construction teams with model-based information, contribute to quality assurance processes, and help optimize workflows and design solutions for efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup, development, and coordination of hydraulic BIM models in Revit, ensuring compliance with project requirements, internal standards, and BIM Execution Plans.
  • Manage and maintain federated models, ensuring clash-free integration with mechanical, fire, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
  • Drive model governance, quality control, and documentation accuracy across all hydraulic BIM deliverables.
  • Facilitate BIM coordination meetings, model reviews, issue resolution workflows, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Provide authoritative technical support to engineers and designers, ensuring hydraulic design inputs are implemented accurately and efficiently.
  • Contribute to project planning, forecasting modelling effort, and identifying risks related to digital delivery.
  • Support continuous refinement of BIM workflows and digital engineering processes across the team.

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience as a BIM Coordinator within hydraulic building services (consultancy experience highly regarded).
  • Advanced Revit proficiency, including model setup, work-sharing, work sets, templates, and coordination workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Australian hydraulic standards, NCC requirements, and coordination interfaces with other building services.
  • Proven ability to coordinate at scale on large or complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through digital delivery.
  • Highly organized, detail‑focused, and able to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in civil engineering design for hydropower projects, including experience with pump storage and run-of-river schemes.
  • Proficiency in BIM tools and workflows (e.g., Revit, Civil 3D, or comparable platforms) for infrastructure and hydropower design.
  • Solid understanding of structural and geotechnical principles relevant to dams, waterways, and associated civil structures.
  • Experience preparing detailed design documentation, drawings, and models compliant with international and regional standards.
  • Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and translate engineering requirements into accurate BIM models.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and design optimization skills, with attention to safety, sustainability, and constructability.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; professional registration or chartership is a plus.
  • Experience working on international projects and familiarity with regional codes and regulations in Southeast Asia are beneficial.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Bangkok and collaborate closely with project teams, clients, and construction partners.
