AI Governance & Assurance Lead - Leading Financial Services Organisation

A leading financial services organisation is seeking an AI Governance & Assurance Lead to drive the safe, responsible, and scalable adoption of artificial intelligence across the enterprise. This is a newly created strategic role within the organisation's AI function, responsible for establishing governance frameworks, embedding AI risk controls, and partnering with business and technology teams to accelerate AI adoption while meeting evolving regulatory and ethical expectations.

Responsibilities

You will develop and operationalise enterprise-wide AI governance frameworks, standards, policies, and operating models to support the responsible deployment of AI and Generative AI solutions. Working closely with AI, Technology, Data, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Business stakeholders, you will embed governance principles throughout the AI lifecycle, ensuring AI solutions are designed, deployed, and monitored in accordance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

You will conduct AI risk assessments, establish governance processes and control mechanisms covering areas such as model risk, explainability, fairness, transparency, and AI assurance, while advising project teams on AI-by-design practices. In addition, you will drive organisation-wide AI awareness and capability building, foster communities of practice, monitor emerging AI technologies and regulatory developments, and represent the organisation in relevant industry forums where appropriate.

Requirements

You have 8-15 years of experience across AI, machine learning, data science, AI governance, model risk, AI product, or related disciplines, with a strong understanding of the AI lifecycle, including Generative AI, large language models (LLMs), model risk, explainability, bias, and AI governance principles. You possess experience developing or operationalising AI governance frameworks within a large enterprise or regulated environment and are comfortable engaging senior stakeholders across business, technology, risk, and compliance functions.

Exposure to AI assurance, AI risk management, model governance, or industry AI governance initiatives will be highly regarded. You are an effective communicator with the ability to translate complex technical and regulatory concepts into practical business outcomes while balancing innovation, governance, and commercial objectives.
