Your new role

As the Associate Rare Disease Medical Directorfor Region APAC, you will serve as a regional strategic medical leader, translating global medical strategy into executable plans across diverse markets including, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Southeast Asia. You will influence, align and enable affiliates and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality medical initiatives that support in-line brands, development compounds, and new product launches in rare endocrine and rare blood disorders.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Translating the global medical strategy into a regionally executable plan for APAC, ensuring scientific consistency and alignment across markets while adapting to evolving patient needs, treatment paradigms, and emerging clinical evidence
• Leading the regional publication strategy and scientific communications, ensuring rigorous evidence dissemination through peer-reviewed channels and appropriate medical communication formats
• Defining and executing a regional KOL and Digital Opinion Leader engagement approach, building a cross-market expert network and facilitating scientific exchange that informs medical strategy
• Provide strategic medical leadership for Rare Disease product launches by shaping launch strategy, generating medical insights, building scientific advocacy, and driving cross-functional readiness to support successful market entry and long-term patient value.
• Providing regional medical input to shape clinical trial evidence generation and Real-World Evidence strategies, partnering with RWE functions to address evidence gaps relevant to APAC
• Driving medical education initiatives, congress contributions, and scientific meeting quality across affiliates - ensuring evidence-based clinical understanding that supports differentiation of original products
• Championing digital-enabled Medical Affairs transformation across the region, including virtual programs, e-learning platforms, and digital content governance with measurable outcomes.
• Ensuring all regional medical activities are executed in full compliance with applicable laws, company ethical standards, non-promotional boundaries, and medical governance requirements
• Willingness to travel up to 20% across APAC to support affiliate engagement, scientific initiatives, congresses, and key stakeholder interactions

About APAC Medical Affairs

Within International Operations, the APAC Medical Affairs team drives medical strategies and tactics supporting rare disease therapy areas in close collaboration with Global and affiliate medical organizations. The team shares a culture focused on excellence, operational rigour, and a deep commitment to patients living with rare endocrine and rare blood disorders - ensuring they receive the scientific attention and medical innovation they deserve.

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for a senior medical affairs leader who combines scientific depth with regional strategic acumen and the ability to drive execution across a complex, multi-market landscape. You will bring:

• MD, PhD, or PharmD in a relevant scientific or medical field
• Minimum 10 years in medical affairs, preferably within the rare disease therapy area
• Proven expertise in scientific communication, clinical trials, drug development, life cycle management principles, and publication strategy
• Experience engaging with Key Opinion Leaders and International Professional Associations
• Excellent project management and interpersonal skills, with a successful track record of working in cross-functional teams
• Digital agility and comfort working with digital tools, data, and insights to improve medical initiatives
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with high accountability and proactive issue identification
• Communication skills that are scientific, executive-ready, and culturally sensitive for the APAC region
• Ability to lead cross-country scientific initiatives, including advisory boards, congress participation, and other regional scientific engagement activities
• Strong business understanding with the ability to drive regional Rare Disease medical operations in alignment with strategic business priorities
