Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Sales is responsible for supporting the EAM Sales & Marketing in leading the MICE sales team to drive group business and achieve revenue goals. This role involves developing and executing strategic sales plans, maintaining strong client relationships, and coordinating with internal departments to ensure the successful execution of MICE events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing sales strategies to maximize revenue from MICE segments.
- Manage and grow key accounts in the MICE market, both domestically and internationally.
- Identify new business opportunities through proactive prospecting and market research.
- Support the sales team in preparing proposals, contracts, and event planning documentation.
- Work closely with the events, catering, and operations teams to ensure seamless coordination of MICE events.
- Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings.
- Conduct regular sales calls, site inspections, and client follow-ups.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify business risks and opportunities.
- Prepare sales reports and forecasts for senior management.
- Train, mentor, and supervise the MICE sales team as needed.
Personnel:
- Ensures all employees maintain an updated awareness of Hotel product knowledge, current promotion, policy changes and appropriate internal communication.
- Assists in the recruitment and selection of MICE & Event Sales employees if required.Adheres to hotel guidelines when recruiting and uses a competency-based approach to selecting employees.
- Assists to oversee the punctuality and appearance of MICE & Events Sales employees, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department's grooming standards.
- Maximises the effectiveness of employees by developing each of their skills and abilities through the appropriate training, coaching, and/or mentoring.
- Assists to plan and implement effective training programmes for employees in coordination with the Training Manager and Departmental Trainers.
- Encourages employees to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognising them for their contribution to the success of the operation.
- Supports the implementation of The People Brand Standard, demonstrating and reinforcing Hyatt's Values and Culture Characteristics.
- Supports the implementation of changes as a result of the Employee Engagement Survey.
Other Duties:
- Ensures high standards of personal presentation and grooming.
- Maintains strong, professional relationships with the relevant representatives from competitor hotels and other organisations, including tour operators and local travel agents.
- Exercises responsible management and behaviour at all times and positively representing the hotel management team and Hyatt International.
- Responds to changes in the MICE & Events function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.
- Reads the hotel's Employee Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, health and safety.
- Attends training sessions and meetings as and when required.
- Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Must remain motivated, competitive and accountable and possess a solid understanding of current industry trends both local and international.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hotel sales, with at least 2 years focused on MICE or group sales.
- Strong understanding of the MICE market and event planning processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing key accounts.
- Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
