About the Role
We are looking for an Expatriate Manager who will provide audit and accounting technical support to engagement teams across BDO Thailand, with a strong emphasis on accounting matters, audit quality, and the effective use of data analytics in audit and assurance services. The role also supports capability building, methodology alignment, and consistency with BDO global standards while contributing international best practices and subject-matter expertise.
Act as a technical resource to audit and accounting teams on IFRS and local GAAP issues, including revenue recognition, financial instruments, group reporting, business combinations, and consolidation matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultation on audit judgments, accounting interpretations, and disclosure requirements for large and complex clients.
- Review technical position papers, accounting memoranda, and audit documentation to ensure compliance with BDO methodology, professional standards, and regulatory expectations.
- Support engagement teams in resolving pre-issuance review points, regulator comments, and internal quality review findings.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing audit quality across the firm through consistent application of standards and best practices.
- Contribute to the rollout and adoption of BDO global audit methodology updates, guidance notes, and technical tools.
- Perform hot and cold reviews of audit files.
- Support internal inspections, quality monitoring reviews, and regulator interactions as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent (mandatory).
- Typically 6–10+ years of experience in audit and assurance within a Big 4 or large international professional services firm.
Required Skills
- Strong practical experience with IFRS and complex accounting issues; experience in emerging markets or Southeast Asia is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical consultation or audit quality support beyond standard engagement execution.
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with audit data analytics, data extraction, visualization tools, or automated audit platforms is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of international auditing standards (ISAs) and financial reporting standards.
- Strong ability to analyze complex financial information and apply professional judgment.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, ACL, IDEA, SQL, or similar technologies) is preferred, though not mandatory.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to varied audiences.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and influence teams without direct reporting lines.
- Comfortable working in a cross-cultural, multinational environment.
- Willingness and ability to relocate to Thailand and work effectively within the local business and cultural context.
- Prior international or expatriate experience is a strong advantage.
