Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, programming, and commissioning of HVAC control systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and integration with building management systems. You will work closely with clients, project managers, and software vendors to deliver bbp's intelligent control solutions that enhance system efficiency and sustainability.

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in PLC programming (preferably Siemens), HVAC control systems, and automation engineering, who is passionate about innovative solutions in energy and building performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and program control systems, including management of external software vendors when required.
  • Design and implement BBP solutions that meet clients control and automation requirements.
  • Design, test, and troubleshoot automation, control, and electrical systems for HVAC plants.
  • Prepare control system documentation including flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, and electrical schematics.
  • Draft HVAC control system design specifications for new projects to meet performance and functional requirements.
  • Develop and test software programs in accordance with project requirements and standards.
  • Assist in system loading, commissioning, and functional validation.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure proper system operation.
  • Prepare project documentation and client deliverables, including design submittals, system operation descriptions, and O&M manuals.
  • Attend project and technical coordination meetings as required.
  • Coordinate with the project management team to ensure alignment of schedules and installation timelines.
  • Conduct site-specific training for clients or operators on system operation and maintenance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PLC programming, preferably with Siemens TIA Portal / Simatic Manager.
  • Proven experience integrating low voltage building sub-systems using industry-standard protocols.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including controls, ACMV systems, and motor starter configurations (Star-Delta, Auto Transformer).
  • Specialist certification in Refrigeration, Air-conditioning, or Energy Management will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Wonderware System Platform is a strong plus.
  • Sound knowledge of control and electrical equipment such as VSDs, flow meters, power meters, and temperature sensors.
  • Ability to translate complex technical details into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficient in automation engineering, including closed-loop control systems, PLCs, and Building Automation Systems.
  • Hands-on competence in low-voltage electrical panel wiring, termination, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps and compressors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate in English
