Job Description

Job Title : Assistant Vice President, Group Corporate Communications

Job Purpose :

PR& Media Relations

  • PR & Media Management for Businesses, Enablers and Group-wide initiatives to maintain/enhance Group's brand value

Special Projects

  • Assists CIMB GCC Director on special projects to further enhance the Group's external corporate positioning.

Resource & Talent Management

  • Training and coaching of new staff, TCBians and interns, on writing and editing

Key Responsibilities

PR & Media Relations

  1. Support Vice President in implementing an integrated local and regional communications strategy for Group CEO and the CIMB Group.
  2. Develop, implement and manage effective communication plans (e.g., key messages and proof points) and media-related activities to support CIMB Group's Businesses/Business Enablers (as stipulated by Director), in cooperation with them and their official partners.
  3. Draft, edit and prepare communication packs and/or press kits for CIMB Group (including press releases, key messages, FAQs, presentation decks etc).
  4. Manage communications with stakeholders for CIMB Group.
  5. Help manage issues and crisis communications for the Group.
  6. Ensure all media monitoring services vendor are fulfilled as specified in Service Level Agreement.
  7. Maintain good working relationship/ continually engage with the media
  8. Any other responsibilities/tasks as assigned by the Management from time to time.

Special Projects

  1. Support Vice President of GCC craft and implement the PR strategy for Special Projects, including pitching for interview and looking out for non-traditional opportunities to publicise CIMB's products and services through its sponsored events.
  2. Work with Businesses/Business Enablers to develop key messages to support an effective PR and/or media engagement plan.
  3. Lead on 2 – 3 Special Projects per year as stipulated by Vice President.
  4. Managing media analysis reports as prepared by media monitoring agency
  5. Update selected department procedures (e.g. Group Crisis Communications Procedure) as required

Resource & Talent Management

  1. Train new staff, TCBians and interns on daily media monitoring and preparation of daily media report.
  2. Guide new staff on various aspects of media relations and media engagement.

Job Specification - Qualifications

  • Degree in any field.
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum 10 years working experience. Communications, media, journalism or related fields is an added advantage.

Required Competencies and Skills

Technical/Functional skills

  • Good understanding of strategic communications principles and processes
  • Understanding of the workings of broadcast, print and digital media
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Excellent communication skills, especially writing and editing skills
  • Strategic planning and organising skills
  • Understanding of banking products and services is a plus

Personal skills (Soft Competencies [Core/Leadership])

  • Good communications (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills
  • Good networking - Ability to network with the media and facilitate inter-division/department/unit working relationships locally and regionally

Travel Requirements (if any)

  • Quarterly – within ASEAN
