Job Description

Position Purpose (Why this role exists)

The Assistant Vice President Project Management is responsible for leading and governing large-scale, high-impact projects and programs from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with business strategy, operational priorities, and organizational transformation goals.

This role serves as a strategic bridge between executive leadership and operational teams, ensuring that projects deliver measurable business value, are executed within scope, time, and budget, and are managed with strong governance, risk control, and stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Project Leadership

  • Define and drive the project management strategy and roadmap aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Translate business strategy into structured project and program initiatives.
  • Ensure all major projects support business value realization, not just on-time delivery.

2. Project Governance & Framework Development

  • Establish and govern project management frameworks, standards, and methodologies across the organization.
  • Ensure consistency in project lifecycle management, documentation, and decision-making.
  • Act as the owner of project governance, escalation, and prioritization mechanisms.

3. End-to-End Project & Program Management

  • Oversee the full project lifecycle:
  • Initiation & business case development
  • Planning & resource allocation
  • Execution & progress tracking
  • Risk & issue management
  • Delivery & closure
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed scope and quality.

4. Risk, Resource & Budget Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and dependencies proactively.
  • Optimize allocation of people, resources, and budgets across concurrent projects.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure strong cost control and value realization.

5. Stakeholder & Communication Management

  • Act as a key liaison between senior executives, business leaders, project teams, and external partners.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement, alignment, and expectation management.
  • Ensure clear, consistent, and transparent communication across all project levels.

6. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Establish robust project tracking, dashboards, and reporting systems.
  • Monitor milestones, KPIs, risks, and benefits realization.
  • Provide clear, concise executive updates and recommendations for decision-making.

7. Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop project managers and cross-functional project teams.
  • Build project management capability, discipline, and accountability across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and delivery excellence.

8. Change & Transformation Enablement

  • Support organizational change initiatives through structured project delivery.
  • Ensure change impacts are assessed and managed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with People and Operations teams to ensure adoption and sustainability of project outcomes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Project delivery on time, on budget, and within scope (%)
  • Business value realization from completed projects
  • Risk mitigation effectiveness (issues resolved vs escalated)
  • Stakeholder satisfaction
  • Portfolio health (priority alignment, resource utilization)
  • Reduction of project overruns and rework

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or related fields
  • Minimum 1218 years of experience in project or program management
  • Proven experience managing large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects
  • Senior leadership experience (PMO Head, Program Director, Senior Project Leader)
  • Strong exposure to strategic, transformation, or capital projects
  • Experience in manufacturing / Food and Beverage / MNC preferred
