About the Role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) in the industrial manufacturing sector is responsible for driving business growth by identifying new market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding customer relationships. This role bridges sales, marketing, and technical teams to deliver tailored industrial solutions that meet client needs.

The BDM plays a critical role in increasing revenue, strengthening market presence, and supporting long-term business strategies within manufacturing industries such as machinery, automation, heavy industry, or engineered products.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within target industries and regions
  • Create and implement strategic sales and business development plans
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to refine strategy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, distributors, and partners
  • Lead negotiations, contract discussions, and closing of deals
  • Achieve sales targets and revenue growth objectives
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to deliver customized manufacturing solutions
  • Understand technical product specifications and translate them into customer value propositions
  • Support clients in selecting appropriate industrial products or systems
  • Explore new markets, sectors, and applications for existing manufacturing capabilities
  • Develop partnerships, alliances, and channel strategies
  • Track sales performance, pipeline, and forecasts
  • Prepare reports for management on market insights and business progress
  • Use CRM systems to manage leads and customer interactions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Industrial Management, or a related field
  • MBA or equivalent is a plus
  • 5–10 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management
  • Proven experience within industrial manufacturing, engineering products, or B2B technical sales
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial products
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and communicate effectively with engineering teams
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strategic thinking with strong analytical abilities
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel frequently (domestic/international)
  • Strong network within industrial or manufacturing sectors is an advantage
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are beneficial)
