About the Role:
Business development at a payment company looks different from most industries. At Statrys, it means finding every lever that makes the business more valuable - whether that is negotiating better terms with a banking partner to reduce the cost of a payment corridor, or finding partners within the industry ecosystem whose clients need exactly what we offer.
Based in Bangkok, you will own our financial institution relationships and drive Statrys payment network strategy, using those relationships as a commercial tool to optimise how money moves for our clients. At the same time, you will build inorganic growth channels by developing partnerships with professional services firms - accounting firms, corporate secretarial providers, and law firms - to generate qualified business leads.
Responsibilities
- Own Statrys relationships with banking and financial institution partners, acting as the primary commercial point of contact across all operating markets.
- Lead negotiations with banks and payment partners to optimise pricing, corridor costs, settlement terms, SLAs, and operational frameworks.
- Define and execute Statrys payment network strategy, identifying where the network can be improved and working with internal teams to act on it.
- Take ownership of bank audit processes — preparing documentation, coordinating with Compliance, managing timelines, and representing Statrys in audit engagements.
- Monitor network performance and proactively manage partner issues, escalations, and contract renewals.
- Identify and approach professional services firms as referral partners, building a pipeline of accounting, corporate secretarial, and legal firms whose clients are a natural fit for Statrys.
- Develop and close referral partnership agreements, then actively manage those relationships to ensure they generate consistent, qualified deal flow.
- Work closely with Product, Compliance, and Operations to align partnership and network requirements with market launches and regulatory needs.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to ensure partnership-generated leads are tracked, followed up, and converted effectively.
- Represent Statrys at industry events and professional networks to build brand presence and source new partnership opportunities.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in financial partnerships, transaction banking, payment networks, or financial infrastructure at a fintech, payment company, or global financial institution.
- Demonstrated track record of owning senior banking relationships and leading commercial negotiations with financial institutions.
- Prior experience in a BD or partnerships capacity, with evidence of independently building and closing commercial agreements.
- Exposure to payment rail infrastructure, clearing systems, safeguarding structures, or multi-currency settlement is strongly preferred.
- Relationship range: Credible in commercial discussions with bank treasury teams, compliance officers, and professional services partners alike
- Self-directed: Comfortable driving partnerships from cold outreach through to signed agreement, without a team beneath you
- Commercial acumen: Commercially sharp, with an instinct for where the real value is in a negotiation or partnership
- Language: Fluency in English is required; additional language skills is advantageous
- Location: Based in or willing to relocate to Bangkok
