Our client is one of Japan's leading sushi restaurant chains and is expanding to Thailand, with its first stores planned to open in 2027. They are looking for an experienced Food Buyer to join their team and support their business setup in Thailand.
Job Responsibilities
- Purchase food products and ingredients from local and overseas suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships and negotiate prices and terms.
- Coordinate import and local logistics to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Monitor supplier performance, product quality, and market pricing.
- Ensure all products meet food safety and company standards.
- Research new suppliers and sourcing opportunities.
- Provide market and product information to management.
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years of experience in food purchasing, procurement, or sourcing.
- Experience in restaurant chains, food import/export, or food distribution businesses.
- Strong knowledge of local logistics and imported food supply chains.
- Good understanding of food ingredients and food industry standards.
- Experience sourcing seafood products is highly preferred.
- Good negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Able to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Intermediate English communication skills for effective business coordination.
