Position Context
- The CAE Cost & Weight Optimization Lead Engineer is responsible for leading virtual engineering activities focused on vehicle mass reduction and cost optimization while maintaining performance, quality, durability, safety, and NVH targets.
- The role serves as the technical focal point for simulation-driven design optimization, supporting vehicle programs from concept development through production.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead CAE-driven weight and cost optimization activities for complete vehicle and subsystem development.
- Define and execute optimization plans aligned with program mass, cost, performance, and sustainability targets.

- Identify weight and cost reduction opportunities across:
- BIW Structures

- Battery Enclosures
- Powertrain Structures
- Evaluate design concepts considering structural performance, manufacturability, investment, and piece cost.
- Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Cost Engineering, and Attribute teams to implement optimized solutions.
- Support vehicle benchmarking and competitive analysis for mass and cost efficiency.
- Develop and maintain CAE methodologies, optimization workflows,
- Review supplier proposals and engineering solutions to ensure compliance with vehicle targets.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote CAE best practices across optimization activities.
- Support technical reviews and present optimization recommendations to management and program teams.
Requirements
Education / Professional Knowledge
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering , Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field .
- Minimum15+years of experience in automotive CAE, with strong focus on structural optimization, lightweight engineering, and cost-efficient design.
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of vehicle structures, materials, manufacturing processes, and cost drivers.
- Experience with automotive CAE tools such as:
- HyperMesh
- OptiStruct
- Abaqus
- ANSYS
- Nastran
- LS-DYNA
- Expertisein:

- Experience with vehicle benchmarking and value engineering activities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience working with global engineering teams and suppliers.
- Effective leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple vehicle programs under aggressive timelines.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EV platform development and battery system lightweighting.
- Knowledge of Design-to-Cost ( DtC ) and Design-to-Weight ( DtW ) methodologies.
- OEM or Tier-1 experience in vehicle optimization and cost engineering.
