Central Innovation Formulator Senior Scientist

Job Purpose / Overview

The Central Innovation Formulator is responsible for formulating recipes for global innovation and science & technology projects (Technology Readiness Level, innovation development projects) according to required product design principles, in compliance with safety and nutritional guidelines. The role ensures formulations are sustainable, feasible for the business, and aligned with project management requirements. This position is accountable for delivering a robust formulation framework for each innovation, based on product design principles provided by the innovation team, and reviewed with relevant regional formulation teams to assess deployment challenges early.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for delivering recipes for global innovation and science & technology pillars, in compliance with safe design principles (nutrition, food safety) and aligned with climate requirements (carbon footprint).
• Responsible for raising risks, considering all information provided by local market and region, including Scientific Regulatory Affairs, commercial, and supply needs.
• Provide feedback to product design principles to achieve sustainability or value leadership projects.
• Challenge design principles if their achievement does not allow for sustainable formulation, considering future potential evolutions of materials (e.g., optimizing ingredient order, managing mycotoxin risk, etc.). The same applies when a product design principle may affect product performance.
• Deliver recipe frameworks based on product design principles provided by innovation teams. Evaluate recipe framework transferability in relevant markets to assess potential deployment blocking points early.
• For new ingredient projects, responsible for keeping the formulation framework updated regarding inclusion principles.
• Responsible for designing premixes if required in global innovation projects.
• Provide specific inputs to the material risk assessment process based on new raw material risks, impact of inclusion levels, or cumulative risks from other materials.
• Deploy products and portfolios according to global mandates and brand frameworks.

Context and Scope

This role interacts with global roles such as Formulation Central Innovation Scientist, Formulation Leaders, and Formulation Senior Scientist, as well as regional roles including Product and Process Innovators, Site Research & Development Heads, Scientific Regulatory Affairs, Optimization & Lead Formulators, Product Developers, Commercial, and Marketing stakeholders. For global innovation or science projects, this role is the main contact to address project requirements, working closely with innovation and global science & technology teams. The Central Innovation Formulator ensures innovation projects are delivered on time while meeting criteria related to supply, commercial, raw material, and finished product trends shared by the region, always collaborating with regional product development and innovation formulation teams.

Job Specifications / Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree (Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering)
• Advanced English required

Preferred qualifications:

• Green Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma certification

Knowledge / Experience

Minimum qualifications:

• At least 3 years experience in food manufacturing factories, preferably in quality and/or research & development
• Product design, formulation, or optimization experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Product development or innovation experience, or experience managing marketing as a stakeholder
