The Chief Accountant is responsible for leading all accounting operations within the manufacturing entity, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with statutory requirements. This role serves as the technical accounting authority and a key business partner to the CFO, plant management, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Close & Reporting
• Oversee the full monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare and present management accounts, variance analysis, and financial commentary to senior leadership.
• Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of multi-entity or multi-plant financial data where applicable.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and review journal entries prepared by the accounting team.
4. Internal Controls & Compliance
• Design, implement, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with corporate and statutory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Thai GAAP / IFRS, Revenue Department regulations, and BOI privileges (if applicable).
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors; coordinate audit fieldwork and resolve findings.
• Manage statutory filings including VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and annual financial statements.
5. ERP & Systems Management
• Maintain and optimize the accounting module of the ERP system (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
• Lead or support system upgrades, new module implementations, and data migration projects.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial processes through automation and digitization initiatives.
6. Team Leadership & Development
• Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team (typically 3–8 staff across AP, AR, GL, and cost accounting).
• Set performance objectives, conduct appraisals, and build team capability and succession pipeline.
• Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is strongly preferred.
• MBA or master's degree in Accounting / Finance is an advantage.
Experience
• Minimum 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Mandatory: hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment (FMCG, food & beverage, chemical, agri-business, or similar).
• Proven experience in cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent); implementation experience is a strong plus.
• Experience managing external audits and liaising with the Revenue Department.
Technical Skills
• Strong command of Thai GAAP and working knowledge of IFRS.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) is an advantage.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing cost structures, BOM, and production variance analysis.
• Familiarity with tax regulations: VAT, WHT, CIT, and transfer pricing basics.
