Role Description The Chief Accountant at Mercure Hotels in Patong is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the property. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Patong. The Chief Accountant manages the general ledger, supervises daily accounting entries, and ensures timely month-end and year-end closing. The role includes preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for management review. The Chief Accountant monitors cash flow, manages accounts payable and receivable, and ensures proper reconciliation of bank and balance sheet accounts. This position also ensures compliance with local regulations, tax requirements, and internal control policies. The Chief Accountant coordinates with internal and external auditors, supports operational departments with financial insights, and recommends process improvements. The role involves leading and developing the accounting team, setting priorities, and maintaining accurate documentation and financial records.
Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in financial accounting, general ledger management, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis within a hotel or service environment.
  • Solid understanding of local tax laws, regulatory compliance, and internal control frameworks.
  • Advanced skills in accounting software and hotel property management systems, as well as strong MS Excel capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop an accounting team while managing multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Previous experience as a Chief Accountant, Finance Manager, or similar role in hospitality or a related industry is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site in Patong and adapt to a fast-paced, guest-focused hotel environment.
