Job Description

Position Summary

The Chief of Staff reports to the CEO directly. He/she serves as a strategic partner, helping translate the CEO's priorities into action across the business. This role partners with all key functions including commercial, trade, operations, finance, IT teams. The Chief of Staff drives strategic initiatives, improves executive decision-making through clear analysis and follow-through, and ensures that critical projects move forward on time and with accountability. This is a high-trust role requiring sound judgment, discretion, strong business acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, operationally complex industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the CEO to define, prioritize, and track the company's strategic agenda and key business initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional planning and execution of enterprise priorities, ensuring alignment across departments and timely delivery of outcomes.
  • Help manage leadership meetings, quarterly business reviews, annual planning, and follow-up on decisions and action items.
  • Prepare executive briefings, presentations, talking points, and decision materials for board meetings, investor discussions, customer meetings, and internal leadership forums.
  • Monitor progress on strategic and operational initiatives, identify risks or bottlenecks, and drive accountability with senior leaders.
  • Support the CEO in evaluating business performance by synthesizing financial, operational, commercial, and customer data into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Coordinate special projects sponsored by the CEO, including transformation initiatives, organizational changes, market entry efforts, or major customer and partnership opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison across the executive team to improve communication, clarify priorities, and ensure consistent execution.
  • Represent the CEO in selected meetings and internal working groups, providing follow-through and escalation where needed.
  • Help shape internal communications that reinforce strategic direction, performance expectations, and organizational alignment.
  • Track issues relevant to the shipping industry, including service reliability, network efficiency, port operations, fleet utilization, safety, regulatory compliance, and customer experience.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise excellent judgment in handling sensitive personnel, financial, legal, and commercial information.

Ideal Candidate

  • MBA or equivalent degree.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in strategy, operations, management consulting, or executive office within a shipping, logistic, airline or related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level presentations.
  • Exceptional project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in an international environment.
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Strong digital literacy and confidence using workplace technology and productivity tools, including AI.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment with changing priorities.
  • Experience in shipping, airlines or logistics is preferred but not required
