Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

The Cluster Director of Finance – Overseas Projects is a senior finance leader based in Thailand responsible for the financial oversight of a cluster of overseas hotel properties within the Group's international portfolio. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role serves as the primary Headquarters finance authority for Budget, Forecast, Monthly Performance, and Variance Analysis across overseas hotels, ensuring accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to support Group decision-making. The role works closely with overseas hotels finance teams and senior management to drive financial discipline and performance across the cluster.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide strategic financial direction and leadership across all the cluster projects, ensuring alignment with the company's short- and long-term financial goals.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to the Hotels General Managers & Hotels Management Team, contributing financial insight and analysis to commercial and operational decision-making to help drive profitability and business performance across the portfolio
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes for the Area portfolio.
  • Analyze the properties financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Drive revenue optimization strategies in partnership with the Commercial and Operations teams.
  • Oversee capital expenditure (Capex) planning and Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) management across the portfolio, ensuring investments are well-justified, properly phased, and aligned with brand standards and asset value preservation.
  • Support Headquarters in driving finance-related project initiatives and broader finance transformation efforts, encompassing (but not limited to) shared services enhancement and process improvement to strengthen the finance organization.

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Oversee the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all financial reporting for the region, in compliance with USALI, the country GAAP, and company standards.
  • Translate Hotels-level financial reports prepared under USALI standards into the HQ SAP reporting format.
  • Establish and enforce robust internal controls, policies, and procedures across all properties to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
  • Partner with HQ to develop, maintain, and update Finance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.
  • Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each Hotels, and consolidate Area-level results.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely remediation of audit findings.

Performance Management

  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators, including RevPAR, GOP, EBITDA, cost per occupied room, and labor efficiency ratios, across the portfolio.
  • Conduct regular Hotels financial reviews, challenge assumptions, and hold hotel finance teams accountable to targets.
  • Provide financial modeling and investment analysis to support capital expenditure decisions and new project evaluations.
  • Benchmark Hotels performance against budget, prior year, and competitive set, and recommend corrective action where required.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of properties finance leaders across overseas hotels
  • Identify talent, support succession planning, and foster a high-performance finance culture across the region.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, set individual development goals, and support continuous professional development.
  • Design and implement a structured training and development plan for the finance team, building technical, systems, and leadership capability in line with role level and career progression.
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive team environment aligned with company values.

Compliance, Tax & Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure full compliance with country tax laws, GST obligations, withholding tax requirements, and all local statutory regulations.
  • Liaise with legal counsel, tax advisors, and government authorities as required on regulatory matters.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, insurers, and other external financial stakeholders.
  • Oversee cash management, treasury operations, and banking relationships across the region.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Champion the adoption and effective use of financial systems (e.g., Sun Systems, Opera, Birchstreet, SAP) across all properties.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting tools, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead or support overseas hotels in the rollout of new financial systems, tools, and technology upgrades.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (required).
  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA) or Finance (preferred).
  • CPA, ACCA, or a professional accounting certification (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior cluster or multi-hotel finance leadership role.
  • Working experience with international/multinational companies – including exposure to cross-border reporting, multi-currency operations, or overseas stakeholder management – will be a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience in the hospitality industry; hotel or resort finance background is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience managing finance teams across multiple properties or locations.
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and P&L management for large-scale operations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken, is required – the role reports directly to the CFO and involves regular, clear communication with overseas Hotels teams, so excellent business English is essential, not optional.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with a proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting/consolidation tools.
  • Familiarity with hospitality financial systems (e.g., Opera, Sun Systems, SAP, or similar).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and presentation skills, with the confidence and polish to engage senior leadership (CFO, CEO) and overseas hotel general managers directly.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple time zones, cultures, and currencies given the overseas Hotels cluster.
  • Prior exposure to multinational or multicultural work environments is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to overseas properties as required.
  • High attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work under tight reporting deadlines.
