Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Product Qualifications – Design, System, and Implementation – 60%
- Serve as the primary technical interface for Contract Manufacturing during the design transfer and New Product Introduction (NPI) phase
- Process Development: Work with CM process engineering teams to develop, qualify, and release assembly and test processes, including die attach, wire bonding, optical alignment, and high-speed testing.
- Build Management: Lead engineering prototype, pilot, and production ramp builds; coordinate material logistics, fixture readiness, and test software validation at CM sites
- Create and maintain all essential product documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), process workflows, work instructions, and control plans
- Analyze and resolve complex product-related issues during prototyping, pilot runs, and ramp-up phases
- Facilitate the smooth transition of products from NPI to volume production, ensuring all processes are stable, capable, and documented
- Technical Scope & Documentation - 40%
- Lead the product cycle as per the PIP process. Write ADRs and PIPs for the project if it is initiated directly in CM.
- DFM & Design Collaboration: Partner with R&D and design engineering early in the development cycle to influence design for manufacturability, testability, and assembly (DFM/DFT/DFA) for optical transceiver products
- Yield & Quality: Establish baseline yield targets, drive root cause analysis for failures during NPI phases, and ensure corrective actions are implemented prior to handoff.
- Review of the product TRDs, Software (including Firmware, Coherent proprietary control.
- Provide subject matter expertise related on hardware design, including evaluation and simulation of optical/ RF components
- Design Verification Testing and Troubleshooting.
- Documentation & Transfer: Create and manage NPI documentation including control plans, FMEAs, process flow diagrams, and qualification reports. Lead the formal technology transfer to sustaining manufacturing engineering teams.
Education & Experience
- Master's or higher degree in optical engineering, optical electronic information, physics, electrical or electronics engineering preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of NPI or manufacturing engineering experience in optoelectronics, semiconductor packaging, or high-precision electronics assembly
- Good knowledge and experience of optical modeling and simulation for communication systems. Or familiar with C, PCB design, CAD software, FPGA, MATLAB, and QUANTUM programming language software and systems. Or experience with Linux, Logic Analyzer, Baseband, Python, and Verilog software and systems.
- Deep expertise in GD&T, statistical analysis, DOE, and validation methodologies
- A profound understanding of active components, including high-speed lasers and photodiodes, is preferred.
- Good communication skills in both English and Thai and Chinese (bonus).
Skills
- Data analysis by JMP or Mini-tab.
- Deep understanding of optical transceiver assembly processes (die attach, wire bonding, lens/fiber attach, active alignment) and test methodologies (BER, eye diagram, optical power).
- Familiar with Transceiver, OSA product structure.
- Prefer Similar Product Engineer working experiences in the past.

- Proficiency in DFM/DFT methodologies, process qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and statistical analysis (JMP/Minitab)
Working Conditions
Working conditions typical of a climate controlled and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, etc.
