Job Overview:
The Commercial Pricing and Analytics Specialist (The Commercial Insurance Pricing & Portfolio Management Lead) will be responsible for driving technical and commercial pricing, portfolio management, and line of business (LoB) profitability analysis across the commercial insurance portfolio. This role plays a critical part in ensuring sustainable growth by delivering actionable insights on pricing adequacy, exposure management, profitability, and reinsurance performance, while supporting underwriting, finance, and senior leadership with high-quality reporting and analyses on regular basis.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Pricing & Technical Analysis
- Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of technical and commercial pricing models for commercial insurance lines.
- Assess pricing adequacy by segment, product, and account, incorporating loss experience, trends, expenses, and reinsurance impacts.
- Partner closely with underwriting teams to support risk selection, pricing decisions, and deal reviews.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor behavior, and portfolio performance to recommend pricing actions.
2) Portfolio Management & Profitability
- Own endtoend portfolio management frameworks, including performance monitoring by LoB, segment, geography, broker, and underwriting unit.
- Conduct LoB profitability analysis, identifying key drivers of performance such as loss ratios, rate movements, mix changes, and expense allocations.
- Provide clear recommendations to optimize portfolio mix and improve sustainable profitability.
- Support business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes with robust analytical input.
3) Exposure Management & Analytics
- Lead exposure monitoring and accumulation analysis across relevant risk dimensions (e.g., geography, peril, industry, sum insured).
- Identify concentration risks and emerging exposures, escalating insights and mitigation actions to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with catastrophe modeling, underwriting, and risk teams to strengthen exposure governance.
4) Reinsurance Analysis & Reporting
- Produce regular and adhoc reinsurance performance and utilization reporting, including recoveries, attachment points, and net results.
- Support reinsurance strategy by providing analytics on program efficiency, retention levels, and impact on profitability and volatility.
- Work closely with reinsurance, actuarial, and finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of reinsurance data and assumptions.
5) Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Deliver highquality standard and adhoc management reporting for senior leadership, underwriting, finance, and risk committees.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, commercially relevant insights for nontechnical audiences.
- Act as a trusted business partner to underwriting, finance, and strategy teams on pricing and portfolio matters.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in insurance pricing and analytics or proven expertise in pricing analysis, profitability assessment, and portfolio performance management.
- Understanding of P&C insurance products and reinsurance knowledge will be added advantage
- Experience with exposure management and accumulation analysis is useful as it will be key deliverable.
- Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail and data quality.
- Ability to communicate complex insights clearly to senior and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) required for business reporting, stakeholder interaction, and crossfunctional collaboration.
- Familiarity with pricing tools, statistical software, or data visualization platforms.
- Experience working across multiple commercial lines of business.
