Wood is recruiting for a
Commissioning Director (Senior Commissioning Manager) to join our team for an immediate start, leading commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness activities on a major EPCM refinery project with a valued client partner in
Si Racha, Chonburi, Thailand.
This expatriate role is available on an in country residential basis, offered as an initial 12-month contract with opportunity to extend your assignment for the life of the project.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Director and functionally aligned with the Senior Manager – Construction & Commissioning APAC, your immediate focus will be leading the commissioning, start-up, operational readiness, and facility handover activities for a major EPCM refinery project.
As the senior commissioning leader on the project, you will bring to life Woods three pillar strategy of Inspired Culture, Delivery Excellence and Profitable Growth. You will thrive on the challenge of providing strategic direction while balancing technical, team, client, and project leadership in this pivotal role with your focus on relationships and delivery, enabling you to anticipate project needs beyond the immediate scope. You will drive technical excellence and assurance on the commissioning portion working in in concert with other disciplines, while your executive-level engagement with key client stakeholders will enable robust technical decisions to ultimately add value to our client partner and project.
In Addition, You Will
- Develop and lead the overall commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness strategy, ensuring safe delivery through to performance testing and facility handover
- Provide leadership across all commissioning disciplines, including process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, and operations readiness teams
- Establish and govern commissioning execution plans, resource strategies, performance metrics, and risk management processes
- Provide executive oversight of commissioning schedules, budgets, workforce planning, and delivery performance
- Serve as Wood's senior commissioning representative with client leadership, operations teams, contractors, licensors, and key stakeholders
- Ensure all commissioning activities are executed in compliance with project requirements and applicable health, safety, environmental and regulatory standards
- Lead operational readiness, systemisation, completions, turnover and handover activities to ensure a seamless transition to operations
- Drive resolution of complex technical, operational, and commercial challenges while promoting continuous improvement, lessons learned and high-performing teams

Expected
You must be eligible to obtain legal working rights in Thailand, able to pass a pre-employment medical, including a drug & alcohol screen.
Suitably qualified with a degree in a Chemical, Mechanical (or relevant engineering discipline) from a recognised institution, you will have 20+ years industry experience ideally with
proven experience in a similar Commissioning Director / Senior Commissioning Manager role on a major EPCM project within the Refinery, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas Processing sector, as part of a tier one contractor, operator or services company.
In Addition
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screen
- Proven track record leading large-scale commissioning, start-up, operational readiness and facility handover programs for complex brownfield and greenfield projects
- Extensive technical expertise across refining and petrochemical processes with demonstrated success delivering within highly complex, multi-discipline project environments
- Proven leadership capability with experience managing large, multicultural, and geographically diverse commissioning organisations
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with executive client stakeholders, operations leadership, licensors, contractors, and joint venture partners
- Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project risks, schedules, resource planning, budgets, and contractual deliverables
- Highly developed problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities within fast-paced project environments
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, both written and verbal
- Extensive digital literacy and familiarity with completion management systems, commissioning databases, and project controls tools
Desirable
What will set you apart will be your proven experience on major refinery projects leading revamps, expansions, and large-scale integration projects, with expertise on hydrocracker, hydrotreater, residue upgrading or complex conversion refinery units.
