About the Role
Our client is looking for experienced marine commissioning professionals to lead the commissioning and testing of shipboard electrical, automation, and machinery systems. The position level will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience and leadership capability.
This is a hands-on leadership role involving commissioning planning, manpower and resource management, technical troubleshooting, vendor coordination, quality assurance, and sea-trial support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise commissioning engineers and technical teams to ensure shipboard systems are commissioned safely, accurately, and according to project schedules.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor commissioning and harbour acceptance test plans in line with overall project milestones.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of shipboard electrical, automation, control, and machinery systems.
- Review internal test records and acceptance test documentation, including FAT, HAT, and PAT results.
- Monitor commissioning progress and provide regular updates on testing status, issues, and key milestones.
- Plan manpower, resources, work allocation, and technical support to meet commissioning requirements and project timelines.
- Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, internal engineering teams, and other departments to resolve technical and system interface issues.
- Manage commissioning work scopes, productivity, manpower hours, safety requirements, and project resources within allocated budgets.
- Lead and coordinate commissioning activities during sea trials, including the deployment and management of the E-Ops team.
- Drive team performance, training, process improvements, safety practices, and overall quality of commissioning activities.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in the marine industry, with stronger experience considered for the Senior Commissioning Manager level.
- Proven experience leading and managing commissioning engineers, technicians, and/or project teams.
- Strong knowledge of shipboard electrical, automation, machinery, and control systems, including their operation and maintenance.
- Experience managing marine systems/electrical and automation commissioning, testing, or technical services.
- Good understanding of Class requirements, quality standards, commissioning procedures, and marine safety practices.
- Strong planning, manpower management, troubleshooting, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Shipboard, sea-going, or sea-trial experience will be an advantage.
