Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commodity Lead Buyer (Metals & Fluids) to join our Strategic Sourcing Team in Lamphun. This fully strategic role focuses on supplier strategy, new product introduction, and high-value contract management for metal and fluid commodities. You will work closely with corporate leaders and cross-functional teams to drive sourcing strategies that deliver long-term value and competitive advantage for Safran.In the performance of his/her duties, the Commodity Lead Buyer shall utilize the tools, methods, and processes deployed by the Strategic Sourcing team, ensuring adherence to and compliance with applicable company standards and trade regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing Management: Lead the sourcing activities for Metal (milling, sheet metal, etc.) and Fluid (aluminum/copper brazing) commodities for the Lamphun site, covering all phases from supplier selection to contract establishment.
Supplier Selection & Onboarding: Identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers, supporting new product introduction and ensuring alignment with company standards.
Contract Negotiation & Management: Prepare and negotiate contracts, including terms and conditions, in collaboration with the Legal Department and Corporate Commodity Managers.
RFP/RFQ Process: Issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and manage the evaluation process to ensure competitive and compliant supplier selection.
Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements in sourcing, supplier selection, and contract terms while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Collaboration & Strategy Deployment: Work with the Strategic Sourcing Manager, Sourcing Director, and Corporate Commodity Managers to implement sourcing strategies and align procurement activities with corporate objectives.
Compliance & Process Adherence: Utilize established Strategic Sourcing tools, methods, and processes, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and trade regulations.
Information Preparation & Reporting: Prepare supplier evaluation packages and relevant documentation to support decision-making and supplier selection.
Qualifications
Education:
oMaster's degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering a plus).
oAdditional master's degree in Procurement or Supply Chain is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
oStrong knowledge of mechanical processes and manufacturing principles.
oAbility to read and interpret technical drawings (2D/3D CAD preferred).
oProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (Infor LN a plus).
Soft Skills:
oStrategic thinker with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
oExcellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork abilities.
oProactive, adaptable, and able to take ownership in a dynamic environment.
Languages:
oFluent in English.
oFrench is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
oWillingness to travel as required.
oPassion for strategic sourcing and supplier development.
