This role will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier performance, and driving cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity improvements for electrical modules, subassemblies, and cable assemblies.
Overview:
As a Commodity Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for electrical modules, subassemblies, and cable assemblies to support business objectives in cost, quality, delivery, and supply continuity.
You will manage supplier performance, drives cost reduction and risk mitigation initiatives, leads supplier development and sourcing activities, and partners with cross-functional teams to ensure a resilient and competitive supply base. This position also supports new product introductions (NPI), conducts commercial and technical evaluations, and builds strategic supplier relationships to enhance operational excellence and long-term business value.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute commodity strategies for electrical modules, subassembly and cable assemblies aligned with business goals.
- Identify commodity gaps and drive sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity and cost competitiveness.
- Support business units on supply chain matters including supplier capacity, delivery performance, lead times, and cost management.
- Monitor and report commodity performance metrics provide recommendations to management on strategy adjustments.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to meet requirements in cost, quality, technology, and delivery.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers to ensure alignment on performance, roadmap, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing and operational processes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, quality) to align sourcing strategies with business priorities.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive quality, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
- Drive risk mitigation strategies including supply base diversification and regionalization.
- Lead or support projects such as cost reduction, new product introduction (NPI), sourcing initiatives, benchmarking, and process improvements.
- Perform cost analysis, RFQ evaluation, and make-versus-buy assessments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and relevant regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Typically 5 years of experience in commodity management or strategic sourcing, preferably in semiconductor or related industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Strong experience working in cross-functional and global teams.
- Proven track record in cost reduction, value engineering, and supplier negotiations.
- Hands-on experience in cost benchmarking, RFQ analysis, and sourcing strategy development.
- Good understanding of electrical commodities, including materials, manufacturing processes, and supply markets.
- Proficient in ERP systems (SAP or Oracle) including purchasing and material master data.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Project management and change management experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
