Job Summary
The Manager, Corporate Communications & Investor Relations is responsible for the accuracy, consistency and control of everything the Group says publicly. The role owns corporate communication, the annual report, the public claims register, crisis communication readiness, and the day-to-day operation of the Group's disclosure discipline.
The Group retains an external investor relations and financial PR firm. This role manages that firm briefing, directing, challenging and holding it to scope rather than relying on it. Financial figures originate from the Group Reporting team; the holder does not produce them but must be able to reconcile any public statement back to them independently.
The role sits in Group Finance rather than Marketing because its primary purpose is control, not promotion. It is expected to operate with judgement and to bring recommendations rather than open questions.
Key Responsibilities
Disclosure & Listing Readiness
- Operate the Group's Corporate Disclosure Policy day to day; identify candidate material events across the business and bring a reasoned recommendation to the Group CFO and Company Secretary.
- Prepare and quality-check announcements for lodgement; own version control, approval routing and the announcement archive.
- Maintain the disclosure decision log — what was considered, who decided, on what basis and when — as evidence for the Audit Committee.
- Maintain the insider list and operate the closed-period and pre-clearance notification cycle for directors, principal officers and the retained firm's named team.
- Ensure no selective disclosure occurs through any channel, including the retained firm.
Management of the Retained IR / PR Firm
- Act as principal client contact: brief, direct, review and challenge; track deliverables, utilisation and value against the retainer.
- Interrogate the firm's output rather than forwarding it; resolve inconsistencies with internal facts before they reach the CFO.
- Prepare the CFO for firm-arranged engagements; build and rehearse the Q&A bank; capture and circulate feedback.
Investor Relations
- Own the IR infrastructure, investor deck, fact sheet, IR website section, results announcement pack and FAQ bank.
- Maintain the investor and analyst log: coverage, meetings, questions asked, concerns raised and how they were addressed.
- Benchmark peer and sector disclosure practice; flag where the Group is below market standard and propose the remedy.
Corporate Communications
- Own all corporate-level external communication: press releases, corporate statements, executive commentary, corporate profile and boilerplate.
- Enforce the separation between brand marketing and corporate communication; screen campaign material for performance claims, expansion targets and forward-looking statements.
- Own the annual report end to end, timeline, content plan, contributor and designer management, proofing and delivery against the statutory deadline.
- Own the corporate website and corporate social channels to disclosure-grade standards.
- Triage media enquiries and route them to the authorised spokesperson.
Requirements
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Communications, Law or Journalism.
- Membership of a recognised investor relations or communications professional body is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in investor relations, corporate communications or corporate finance.
- Exposure to a Bursa-listed issuer, investment bank, research house, investor relations consultancy or financial PR agency.
- Demonstrated experience managing an external agency or professional adviser — setting scope, rejecting work and holding to deadline.
- Prior involvement in an IPO or major corporate exercise is an added advantage.
- F&B, retail, franchise or multi-brand environment experience is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Financial literacy sufficient to reconcile a public claim to the underlying financial statement or management pack line, and to challenge a figure that does not tie. The holder does not produce the numbers but must be able to check them.
- Working knowledge of Bursa Malaysia Main Market Listing Requirements on continuous disclosure, the insider trading provisions of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, and the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance.
- Written precision, drafts that survive legal and regulatory review without material amendment.
- Self-sufficiency: brings a recommendation, not a question; escalates decisions, not tasks.
- Full professional fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia;
- Advanced Microsoft Office and presentation skills.
