Job Description

Corporate Counsel Investigations role is for an experienced, creative and strategic attorney with impeccable judgment who will lead internal investigations in Tyson's Asia-Pacific and Middle East markets related to alleged violations of the Company's Code of Conduct, policies, and relevant laws and regulations.

The Corporate Counsel Investigations will also identify root causes of issues and gaps in processes and controls, and work with appropriate stakeholders to identify remediation actions to address those gaps. The Corporate Counsel will work closely with relevant company partners, including Ethics, Compliance, Internal Audit, Human Resources, the Law Department and business stakeholders. Because the role will report to management in the U.S., the candidate should expect evening calls with the U.S. at least once per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal investigations related to the Company's Code of Conduct, policies, and U.S. and international laws and regulations, including anti-corruption laws (i.e., Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, PRC Criminal Law, and other anti-corruption statutes), commercial bribery laws, antitrust and anticompetition laws, anti-discrimination laws, and other criminal and civil laws and regulations.
  • Provide impartial, objective, and confidential legal analysis throughout the investigation process, and deliver legal advice and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement an investigation plan for each case; conduct thorough fact-gathering through witness interviews and meticulous document review; prepare comprehensive and well-written reports of investigations; and clearly communicate findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Identify root causes of issues and gaps in processes and controls and work with appropriate stakeholders to identify remediation actions to address those gaps.
  • Actively engage with and manage outside counsel to ensure the best outcomes, development and management of reasonable budgets, and alignment of strategies with internal business priorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Law & Compliance, Human Resources, Global Security, Internal Audit, Finance, and others.
  • Provide briefings, presentations, and training as needed.
  • Assess existing investigation methods, processes and procedures and recommend enhancements or modifications, as needed.
  • Provide guidance on the enhancement of Company policies and procedures.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney specializing in internal investigations white-collar investigations, or complex litigation.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and persuasively with senior leaders in English and Mandarin.
  • Solid project and time management skills, including ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience utilizing e-Discovery platforms.
  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics.
  • Objective and creative problem solver.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Substantive skills in Anti-Corruption laws (i.e., Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, PRC Criminal Law, and other anti-corruption statutes) or similar laws.
  • License to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Required Education:

  • Active license to practice law.
  • Advanced degree in the field of law (e.g., JD, LLM, Doctorate Degree, or equivalent).
