Job Description

Hiring: Country Manager Thailand | Building Materials / Interior Solutions | Bangkok

We are partnering with a leading player in the building materials and interior solutions space, to hire a Country Manager Thailand who will play a critical role in driving the company's expansion and growth strategy in the international markets.

Our client is a well-established organization, recognized for its strong market presence across laminates, panels, and surface solutions (HPL, CPL, particle boards, etc.), and its growing global footprint.

Role Overview:

  • Sales Strategy Development: Formulate a comprehensive sales strategy for Thailand with a one-year horizon, aligning with overall business objectives
  • Sales Targets & Distributor Management: Achieve sales targets for the countries, including setting and tracking distributor-level targets, tracking secondary sales, managing distributor portfolios focusing on financial health, inventory levels, and effective territory management
  • Distribution Network Expansion: Build and strengthen a robust distribution network within the country to maximize market penetration and sales efficiency
  • Carpenter and Woodworker collaboration: Partner with carpenters and woodworkers to endorse and specify the client's products
  • Client Building with OEMs and Retailers: Foster relationships with OEMs and large retailers to establish them as key clients for the client's products
  • Market Share Strategy: Develop and execute strategies to enhance market share and optimize distribution channels
  • Project Specifications: Work closely with architects and interior designers to ensure the client's products are specified in various projects
  • Scalability: The role has a potential to expand to include additional market responsibilities across Cambodia and Myanmar, creating a broader regional scope

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Planning

  • Set channel partner wise (distributor, OEM, retail) wise sales targets basis last year actuals and geographic potential
  • Track channel wise (distributor, OEM, retail) wise sales performance against targets and deviation from regional primary sales target and raise alerts against gaps to minimize them
  • Track business KPIs for improving achievements, growth, market share at a channel partner level

Sales Operations

  • Optimize order placement process along with inventory levels at distributor level
  • Strategize integration of distributor bills to channel finance with banking partners
  • Provide updates on key projects and action required or support needed

Business Development

  • Collaborate with large OEMs and retailers and build them as clients
  • Specify our client to AIDs/contractors/developers for projects across healthcare, builders, public sector etc
  • Track share of wallet and growth for key customers. Aggressively gauge new leads & upcoming projects

Customer Experience and Acquisition

  • Regular meetings with all distributors to track growth plans progress vs targets, solve issues, recalibrate basis market and product trends
  • Support development of innovative products for the distributors and customers basis market / business intelligence and feedback
  • Ensure improvement in customer satisfaction metrics and complaints
  • Escalate quality issues basis observations and feedback to relevant channels
  • Identify growth potential regions and onboard customers basis geographical need and business size

Digital First

  • Leverage analytics to analyze market data and trends to forecast potential for the region
  • Using market data and customer needs, customize product portfolio for specific pitch for key accounts
  • Monitor sales performance along key KPIs, proactively highlight issues, ensure resolution
  • Leverage digital tools to effectively manage and track new leads and opportunities

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Sales Targets Achievement: Percentage of sales targets achieved vs plan (including growth) across channels and share of premium portfolio
  • Market Share Growth: Increase in market share within the region
  • Customer Satisfaction Metrics: Customer satisfaction scores, based on regular surveys and feedback mechanisms
  • Customer Acquisition and Retention: Number of new clients acquired and retention rate/share of wallet for existing customers
  • Distributor Performance: Assessment of distributor performance, including inventory turnover, order fulfillment rates, and return on investment

Education & Qualifications

  • Graduation with advanced degree in Business / Marketing (MBA)
  • Professional Experience: 8-10 years of experience in sales management, preferably in a similar industry e.g: HPL/LPL/Chip-board/particle boards etc. Experience in managing sales in the Thailand market is highly desirable
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in sales planning and strategy, market analysis, and customer relationship management. Strong understanding of supply chain management and distributor network operations
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the specific industry sector (e.g., interior design, construction materials, etc. HPL, CPL, PB etc) that our client operates in
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, with a track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data and trends to make informed business decisions
  • Digital Competence: Familiarity with digital sales tools and CRM software. Ability to leverage digital platforms for sales tracking and business development
  • Customer-Centric Approach: A strong focus on customer satisfaction and experience, with the ability to address customer needs effectively
  • Adaptability and Innovation: Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and introduce innovative strategies to maintain competitive advantage

Location: Bangkok

This role requires on-ground presence in Thailand along with valid work authorization and fluency in national language.
