Data Analyst (Insurance Brokerage) - Howden Maxi Insurance Broker Co., Ltd

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Reporting:

- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets related to insurance premiums and automotive trends.

- Build interactive dashboards using Excel, Power BI or others Visual Tools.

- Provide insights to support pricing, marketing, and product development teams.

Database & Automation:

- Write SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from internal systems.

- Develop scripts (Python or similar) for web scraping competitor premium data.

- Automate data collection and reporting processes.

Market Intelligence:

- Monitor competitor offerings and summarize findings for management.

- Identify trends in automotive insurance and extended warranty products.

Collaboration:

- Work closely with sales, underwriting, and marketing teams to align data insights with business goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to create structured, clear analytical reports.

- Presentation skills for delivering insights to stakeholders.

- English communication skills for project coordination and reporting.

- Advanced Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, Charts).

- Proficiency in Power BI for dashboard creation.

- Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.

- Basic to intermediate coding (Python preferred; web scraping libraries like Beautiful Soup or Selenium are a plus).

- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.

- Interest in automotive industry and willingness to learn insurance concepts.

Education Background

Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields:

- Data Analytics / Data Science

- Computer Science / Information Technology

- Statistics / Mathematics

- Business Analytics

- Engineering (with strong analytical and technical skills)

- Microsoft Power BI Certification

- SQL and Database Management courses

- Python for Data Analysis

Advanced Data Platforms & AI-Enabled DB Tools (Preferred)

- Cloud data warehouses with AI features: Snowflake (incl. Snowflake Cortex, Snowpark ML), Google BigQuery (incl. BigQuery ML; integration with Vertex AI), and Azure Synapse / Microsoft Fabric.

- Lakehouse & ML platforms: Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Feature Store, Model Serving).

- Operational DBs with vector/AI capabilities: PostgreSQL with pgvector, MySQL HeatWave AutoML, MongoDB Atlas Vector Search.

- Search & vector databases: Elasticsearch/OpenSearch with vector search, Pinecone, Weaviate.

- MLOps/AutoML add-ons: Azure Machine Learning, Google Vertex AI, DataRobot.

- Copilot-style assistants: GitHub Copilot, Azure Data Studio/SQL Copilot, Snowflake Copilot to accelerate querying and documentation.
