Job Summary

The Data Center Facilities Management Technician / Engineer is responsible for supporting day to day facility operations, change management, and maintenance activities within a colocation data center environment. This role ensures the reliability of critical infrastructure systems including power and cooling, while maintaining strict compliance with operational procedures and risk controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and understand technical documentation in English, including MOP, SOP, and EOP
  • Provide clear communication and reporting to Data Center Technicians and stakeholders
  • Support operations of critical infrastructure systems including UPS, generators, power distribution, and cooling systems
  • Read and interpret single line diagrams and understand power flow from source to equipment
  • Participate in change management processes by reviewing maintenance plans, understanding scope, dependencies, and potential impact before execution
  • Identify risks prior to maintenance activities, including single points of failure and potential impact to critical systems
  • Assess whether activities are safe to proceed and escalate concerns when required
  • Review maintenance records and validate scope of work before execution
  • Coordinate with vendors and engineers to ensure work is completed according to approved procedures
  • Escalate immediately for any critical issues including power events, risks to uptime, or deviation from approved plans
  • Follow defined escalation protocols and ensure no critical action is taken without proper approval
  • Handle incidents such as power failures by checking alarms, identifying affected systems, verifying UPS and generator status, protecting critical load, and following EOP procedures
  • Coordinate with vendors and engineers during incident resolution and ensure proper documentation
  • Perform and track preventive maintenance activities according to schedule and checklist
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are completed and properly recorded
  • Act as a liaison between data center teams, vendors, and site operations
  • Supervise vendor activities onsite and ensure compliance with procedures and safety standards

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand technical documents in English
  • Basic knowledge of data center critical systems, especially electrical and cooling systems
  • Understanding of UPS, generators, and power distribution systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings such as single line diagrams
  • Familiarity with change management processes in a data center or similar environment
  • Experience working with MOP, SOP, and EOP is preferred
  • Strong problem solving and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to identify and evaluate operational risks and system impact
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear and structured escalation updates
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to incidents
  • Willingness to work onsite in a data center environment and support after hours activities when required
