Job Description

The Deputy Head of Engineering Operations is an executive-level position with key responsibilities in assisting the department head to manage and oversee all engineering activities and operations within the organization. This role ensures that projects and operations run efficiently while meeting established safety standards, quality requirements, and budget constraints.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management and Operational Control: Assist the department head in managing and controlling all engineering operations to align with company policies, objectives, and strategies.
  • Planning and Budgeting: Participate in short-term and long-term engineering planning, prepare and control project budgets, including monitoring and controlling expenditures.
  • Project Management: Oversee and manage complex engineering projects from design and development through construction and inspection, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and meet technical specifications.
  • Maintenance and System Improvement: Plan and execute Planned Preventative Maintenance activities and repair systems, machinery, and equipment to minimize downtime and increase production efficiency.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and motivate engineering teams and staff under supervision, including setting objectives, performance evaluation, and identifying training needs.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with other departments such as Production, Procurement, and Customer services to ensure operations align with business requirements and overall operations.
  • Safety and Quality Standards Compliance: Establish, monitor, and maintain Safe Systems of Work while ensuring technical quality of all projects and products meets or exceeds established standards.
  • Problem Solving: Serve as the central point for systematic resolution of complex technical and operational problems, including Root Cause Analysis for continuous improvement.
  • In summary, this position requires deep understanding of both technical engineering aspects and practical operational management to support and share the workload of the Head of Engineering Operations while driving the team toward organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Building Management, Facility Management, or Property Management, with at least 2-3 years of managerial experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), fire suppression systems, and safety standards.
  • Strong team management and communication skills, along with excellent problem-solving abilities for urgent situations.
