As a Design Engineer for solar projects, your primary responsibilities will include:
Site Survey and Inspection:
- Perform thorough site surveys.
- Compile detailed site inspection reports.
Cost Estimation:
- Review client's Request for Proposal (RFP) and estimate Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) costs.
Client Interaction:
- Conduct meetings with customers to present technical design concepts.
- Address client queries and concerns.
Project Quality and Timeliness:
- Ensure the quality of work meets established standards.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure timely submissions.
RFP Preparation:
- Create comprehensive Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for project tendering.
Project Handover:
- Prepare information for the seamless handover of projects between the Engineering and Construction teams.
Tender Support:
- Assist in reviewing proposals submitted by tendering contractors.
- Provide technical insights during the tender evaluation process.
Feasibility Study:
- Collaborate with the Business Development (BD) team to conduct technical feasibility studies for pilot projects.
Interdepartmental Support:
- Provide technical information and support as required by other departments.
Issue Resolution:
- Offer solutions to any technical issues that may arise during the construction or operation phase.
Equipment Sourcing and Benchmarking:
- Source and benchmark relevant equipment to optimize budget and ensure efficient operation.
Detail Design Preparation:
- Develop typical detailed designs for various types of solar installations.
- Able to perform technical calculations for equipment sizing in compliance with relevant industry standards.
Document Review:
- Review all technical documents submitted by EPC contractors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to travel to other provinces by private car when assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience designing Solar arrays 1MWp and larger.
- Ability to prepare a full Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for project tendering.
- Advanced AutoCAD, SketchUp, and PVsyst programs.
- EPC project experience is necessary.
- Experience reading and understanding technical specifications and construction documents.
- Experience or knowledge of medium voltage systems.
- Ability to exhibit a high degree of flexibility.
- Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
