Position: Director of IT & Automation

About the Role
This is not a traditional IT Director role.
Our IT function today is largely help-desk driven: devices, networks, security, backups. That part works.
What doesn't work is the manual glue holding the business togethercopy-pasted reports, Excel-heavy workflows, disconnected software, and repetitive processes across teams.
We are hiring a Director of IT & Automation to fix that.
Your mission is simple and non-negotiable:
Identify every manual process in the business and automate it using modern systems, APIs, and AI-assisted tools.
What You'll Own
IT Infrastructure (Foundation)
- Oversee devices, networks, security, access control, backups, and uptime
- Maintain a reliable, secure, and scalable IT environment
- Manage vendors and external IT support where required
(This is table stakesnot the core value of the role.)
Business Process Automation (Core Responsibility)
- Audit all current software and hardware systems across departments
- Identify manual, repetitive, error-prone workflows
- Design and implement automated, scalable alternatives
- Replace copy-paste workflows with connected systems
Systems Integration & APIs
- Build or oversee API integrations between internal and third-party systems
- Centralize data flows across tools used by operations, revenue, asset management, and finance
- Reduce dependency on spreadsheets as the primary workflow layer
AI-Driven Reporting & Dashboards
- Implement AI tools to streamline reporting and analytics
- Create automated dashboards that update in real time
- Enable teams and leadership to access insights without manual intervention
Investor & Executive Reporting Automation
- Automate recurring investor and project progress reports
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and auditability of reporting
- Reduce reporting cycles from days to minutes
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work directly with revenue, asset management, finance, human resources, revenue management and leadership
- Translate business problems into technical solutions
- Act as a strategic partner, not a ticket-based service desk
What Success Looks Like (12 Months In)
- Manual reporting is largely eliminated
- Data flows automatically between systems
- Dashboards replace spreadsheets for decision-making
- Teams spend less time on admin and more time executing
- IT is viewed as a strategic enabler, not a cost center
Required Experience
- Strong programming background (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
- Hands-on experience building APIs and system integrations
- Proven experience automating business processes end-to-end
- Strong understanding of data flows, reporting, and analytics
- Comfortable auditing messy, real-world systems and improving them
Nice to Have
- Experience implementing AI tools for reporting or analytics
- Experience with SaaS platforms (finance, operations, asset management, ERP, CRM)
- Familiarity with dashboarding and BI tools (Power BI, Looker, Metabase, etc.)
- Cloud infrastructure experience
This Role Is Not
- A pure helpdesk or IT support management role
- A vendor-only oversight position
- A role focused solely on hardware and networking
- A place for I managed developers but never built candidates

- Knows when to build, when to buy, and when to automate
- Comfortable owning outcomes, not just responsibilities
Reporting Line & Authority
- Reports directly to executive leadership and President and Group CEO
- Owns the IT and internal systems roadmap
- Authority to redesign workflows in collaboration with business teams
- Must demonstrate real ownership of automation and systemsnot just support experience
