Operations Director - Semiconductor Manufacturing
About the role
You will be responsible for managing the daily production operations performed by external
manufacturing partners. Ensures that all build schedules, quality standards, and delivery
commitments are achieved through disciplined execution, proactive problem solving, and
strong coordination across teams. Serves as the central point of contact between Global
Operations leadership, internal engineering and supply chain groups, and external
manufacturing partners.
Responsibilities
Production Execution and Readiness
- Oversees daily manufacturing readiness, ensuring production starts and finishes according to schedule.
- Reviews daily build progress, yield data, and quality performance to identify risks early and take corrective action.
- Ensures production documents, work instructions, and revision controls are accurate and consistently followed.
- Coordinates material availability with Supply Chain to avoid any production delays or stoppages.
Operational Performance Management
- Tracks and reports daily and weekly performance metrics such as output, yield, labor hours, and downtime.
- Leads daily production meetings with external partners to review progress, resolve issues, and set priorities.
- Escalates recurring or critical issues with clear analysis, corrective action, and accountability for resolution.
- Works with partners to implement lean manufacturing practices, visual management tools, and process discipline.
Issue Resolution and Problem Solving
- Acts as the first point of escalation for production disruptions, including equipment issues or process deviations.
- Drives structured problem solving and ensures all corrective actions are verified and sustained.
- Coordinates with Quality and Engineering to resolve nonconformances, rework processes, and product returns efficiently.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serves as the operational link between Global Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
- Communicates real-time production status, risks, and recovery plans to senior operations leadership.
- Supports introduction of new products or design changes by ensuring readiness and alignment across functions.
- Provides data and insights for business reviews, capacity planning, and vendor performance evaluations.
Continuous Improvement
- Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and strengthen process control at external manufacturing sites.
- Establishes consistent operating practices across all manufacturing partners.
- Supports transitions to new production partners or new product lines by driving readiness checklists and ramp plans.
Location & commitments
- Location: Bangkok, Thailand, and On-site at the Contract Manufacturing Partner in Thailand
- Permanent employee // Full-time
- Travel to visit local Contract Manufacturing time-to-time, per assignment or work necessary.
Candidate requirements
- Experience: 812 years in manufacturing operations, production management, or external manufacturing oversightideally in semiconductor.
- Experience: more than 3 years of working closely with and managing the contract manufacturer.
- Results orientation, process rigor, manufacturing relationship management, and cross-functional communication.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented operator who brings structure, data driven, and accountability to a fast-moving environment.
- Reporting Line: Reports to the Vice President of Global Operations & Quality, with close coordination across Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering.
