Job Purpose
The Director of Sales's mission is to oversee and manage sales staff and reservation to achieve
optimal sales in the best possible conditions for the hotel. The Director of Sales works closely with
revenue management and marketing functions, to develop strategies to maximize REVPAR and grow
market share.
Key Accountabilities
- Set example through professional, friendly attitude towards clients and co-workers, timely response to clients and co-workers needs and observance of sales office standard.
- Defines precisely guest requirements and ensures that the guest service offered corresponds effectively to their requests.
- Closely observes matters pertaining to competition (sites, prices, service offered) on a regular basis.
- Participate in client familiarization trips, site inspections, sales calls, sales trips and roadshows as required to meet the sales targets of the hotel.
- Draw up a Marketing Plan annually, updating and owning the sales strategy & sales plan with the General Manager.
- Ensure hotel meets or exceeds budgeted goals.
- Responsible for the training of sales team members.
- Ensure that the department is focused on assertively establishing new client contacts and developing detailed information on the potential revenues from these accounts.
- Assign individual account responsibilities and targets with reference to the above points. Keep account responsibility under continual review.
- Create and implement packages and promotions for periods of low occupancy.
- Liaise effectively with all operational colleagues, providing support and information to ensure accurate delivery of our promise.
- Drive opportunities to upsell and cross-sell hotel products.
- Maintain a full working knowledge of the IT support tools used in the world of sales today, including sales-specific software, property PMS, Amadeus and the Microsoft Office toolset.
- Ensure that all administration work is processed quickly and efficiently.
Jobholder Requirements
- 8 years of Sales experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strong managerial skills.
- Compute accurate mathematical calculations.
- Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.
- Previous experience in hospitality industry, preferably a 4 or 5 star hotel.
- Familiarity with statistical reports.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
