Educational Technology/Technician Audio Visual is a dual-purpose role designed to bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and pedagogical innovation. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of audio-visual services across the College's performing arts venues and learning spaces, while actively collaborating with the wider learning community—students, staff, and leadership—to facilitate the seamless integration of educational technology and design thinking.

Roles & Responsibilities
Educational Technology
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive integration of technology to promote excellence and support transformational change throughout the instructional environment of the College.
- Coach teachers and students in using technology in the classroom aligned to the ISTE standards, with the goal of addressing the needs of 21st century learners.
- Model, support and promote digital citizenship and E-Safety
- Participate in the Dulwich College International group-wide Ed Tech and Innovation Team.
- Have oversight of educational technology resources and work with the IT department to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet day-to-day learning needs.
- Contribute to the co-curricular activity programme (CCA) and technology-related events and initiatives.
Audio Visual
- The control, set up and end user maintenance of all AV technical equipment and apparatus in the theatre and black box, including preventative servicing and consumables and inventory management.
- Set up for technical operations of performances of any nature in the college spaces which includes the set- up of audio and video systems.
- Supporting role for inventory management of the audio visual and lighting in the performing arts spaces, ensuring the equipment is maintained and meet the health and safety requirements of the college.
- To work together in a team to liaise and deliver technical services for some external hirers during events including responsivity as crew chief for causal recruitment, training, and operational supervision.
- Assist and/or training of staff on the use of various AV equipment in the Performing Arts Venues.
Customer Service
- Liaise with our Dulwich Community of Students, Parents and Staff to provide consistent, efficient technical services in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Provide uncomplicated information on AV matters.
- Work in partnership with Academic and Business Staff to support the AV requirements of the College.
- Encourage customer feedback to plan future improvements of the services provided.
- Provide feedback and solution to all stakeholders for events and productions in DCBK.
Technical Service
- Investigate and resolve hardware and software issues on AV equipment. This may be by remote support (telephone or return-to-base support) or on-site support (in-class or at-workstation support).
- Perform minor hardware repairs on AV equipment.
- Perform compatibility testing and upgrade of software applications.
- Participate in the on-going program of preventative maintenance for AV equipment.
- Participate in special projects assigned by the AV Manager or Director of ICT.
- Investigate and resolve issues with Audio Visual equipment including connectivity, speakers, and projectors.
- To attend problems and steps to resolve them using the college AV job tracking/helpdesk system and other central resources.
- Setting-up AV for school assemblies, checking and collecting audio-visual equipment to support teaching rooms and lecture halls through-out the campus as required.
- Capability and confidence in using live stream technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Administration
- Document hardware issues and utilise the AV Department online service desk to maintain records of repairs.
- Maintenance of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements within the department.
- Organise the repair of equipment from external vendors as required.
- Collaborate with team members on creating schematics on AV technologies and/or curate training to train staff/students on how to use specific AV technologies.
Communication
- Provide regular feedback to clients on the status of on-going technical support issues.
- Provide regular feedback to other AV colleagues on on-going technical support issues through email messaging and departmental documentation.
- Participate in AV Departmental Staff meetings, Technology Services Staff meetings and other meetings as required.
- Provide detailed online documentation for completed technology tasks.
Service Delivery
- To provide a high level of service to all customers (internal or external and including students, staff, parents, and general community members). This encompasses:
- Ensuring a friendly, helpful and professional demeanour always.
- Staff will need to be able take ownership of attending to a stakeholder's AV problem, following them through to resolution, and confirming the customer's satisfaction. If unable to resolve the issue independently, staff are expected to know the appropriate escalation channels to ensure the problem is effectively addressed.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Audio Visual Technology, Media Production, IT, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years experience in AV support, preferably in a school, theatre, or live event environment.
- Strong knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems, including setup and troubleshooting.
- Experience with AV control systems, projectors, sound systems, and live streaming platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
- Basic skills in hardware maintenance, repair, and software upgrades.
- Familiarity with helpdesk/ticketing systems and inventory management.
- Good understanding of health and safety standards related to AV equipment and event spaces.
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and service-oriented mindset.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Flexibility to support events outside of normal working hours when required.
