The Opportunity
Our valued client, Birla Carbon (Thailand) Public Company Limited, is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to support the establishment and execution of a new plant set-up at the Lakchai MuangYang Industrial Estate. This role is responsible for overseeing electrical engineering design, installation, testing, and commissioning activities across all electrical systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage systems, with proven expertise in project execution for large-scale or greenfield industrial projects.
Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and provide technical comments on engineering designs and specifications for all electrical equipment, systems, and related equipment packages.
- Perform electrical engineering design work, calculations, and technical evaluations based on project requirements.
- Assess and propose corrections or improvements aligned with current technologies and industry best practices.
- Understand the full project lifecycle, from conceptual design and detailed engineering to construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical equipment and systems, including but not limited to: Transmission Line and 115kV Substation/Switchyard, Power Transformers, HV/MV/LV/VFD Panels, Motors and electrical loads, Grounding systems, Lightning protection systems, Lighting systems
- Coordinate closely with internal teams, engineering consultants, and contractors to drive project progress, ensuring timely completion, good quality, and adherence to approved budget.
- Provide technical support to cross-functional teams to prevent delays and ensure smooth project execution.
- Work collaboratively as part of the project team, supporting colleagues to meet project targets.
- Manage and supervise subordinates and contractors to ensure alignment, teamwork, and compliance with work standards.
- Mobilize contractor manpower and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet project demands.
- Ensure adherence to ABG and global safety standards, promoting safe practices in all work activities.
- Maintain oversight of work quality and ensure that project execution meets required standards.
- Work with relevant government authorities to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and electrical system standards.
- Ensure site readiness and compliance with PEA/EGAT requirements and guidelines.
- Maintain and update electrical drawings, documents, and technical records.
- Support and manage internal and external audits related to electrical systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 810 years of electrical engineering experience.
- Professional Engineering License (Electrical Power), Level 2.
- Experience in greenfield or large brownfield projects is an advantage.
- Background in metals, engineering, or heavy industry preferred.
- Good command of English.
- Proficiency in SAP and MS Office.
Strong experience with:
- EHV/115kV switchgear and substations
- Power transformers (115kV/11kV)
- MV substations (11kV) and distribution transformers (11kV/690V/400V)
- LV switchgear (MCC, Smart MCC, VFD, UPS, battery systems, DBs)
- HV/LV motors, EOT cranes, and hoists
- Relay protection systems and metering panels
- Turbine generator operation, maintenance, and grid synchronization with PEA
- Understanding of power tariff structures for import/export.
- Experience with FAT, SAT, and commissioning electrical systems and equipment.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical components and system integration.
