Electrical Test Engineer
Job Purpose:
The Electrical Test Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing electrical testing processes (including ICT, FCT, and RF testing) in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role drives yield improvement, performs advanced troubleshooting on hardware and software test systems, and ensures strict adherence to worldwide quality and manufacturing standards (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949). The engineer will also lead root-cause analysis investigations and mentor test technicians.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Test Process Optimization: Monitor and optimize In-Circuit Test (ICT) and Functional Test (FCT) processes to ensure high efficiency, reliability, and coverage.
- Yield & Quality Improvement: Analyze daily/weekly test yield data (using SPC, Cp/Cpk, and Pareto charts) to identify defect trends, drive corrective actions, and continuously improve first-pass yield (FPY).
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Perform component-level hardware and software troubleshooting on test systems, fixtures, and failed assemblies to minimize production downtime.
- Standard & Compliance: Ensure test systems and processes comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or IATF 16949 standards. Conduct Gage R&R studies and maintain calibration standards.
- Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into major test failures and customer returns using structured methodologies (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys), collaborating with Quality and Production teams to implement CAPA.
- Documentation: Author and maintain test specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), fixture schematics, preventive maintenance schedules, and calibration guidelines.
- Team Guidance & Training: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and training to test technicians on debugging techniques, rework standards, and ESD-safe handling procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in test engineering within electronics manufacturing (EMS) or semiconductor environments.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in ICT platforms (e.g., Keysight 3070, Teradyne) and Functional Testing (FCT).
- Familiarity with test software and programming (e.g., LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, or SQL).
- Hands-on skill with schematic reading, PCB debugging, and standard lab instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers).
- Quality Standards: In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (Automotive), and IPC-A-610 assembly standards.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and statistical analysis skills (Minitab experience is a plus).
- Languages: Bilingual in Thai and English (competent in reading/writing technical specifications and presenting reports; TOEIC 650+ preferred).
