Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide software engineering and technical support for operations in the areas of Head Stack Assembly (HSA), automation projects, smart maintenance initiatives, KPI improvement, and new process/tool sustaining phases
• Develop and implement automation projects involving PLC programming and microcontroller systems
• Perform AI and robotics data analysis, including deep learning and machine learning applications
• Support web development using Python, Java, and SQL
• Communicate effectively in English and collaborate closely with the Fujikawa/San jose teams
• Demonstrate a solution-oriented approach when addressing challenges
• Be open to new ideas, training opportunities, and constructive feedback
• Continuously seek opportunities for self-improvement and professional development
• Adapt effectively to changes in processes or company direction.

This position is part of our Early Career program at WD. Our Early Career program is designed to support individuals beginning their professional careers by providing the foundational training through a structured onboarding, mentorship, and development curriculum.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, AI Engineering, Robotics AutomationEngineering,or equivalent experience

PREFERRED:

• Strong technical competency in area of study with demonstrated academic or project achievements
• Proficiency in programming C, Python,web applications and PLC microcontroller systems
• Knowledge of AI, Automation, Computer Vision, Image Processing, and Machine Learning technologies
• Strong skill set in presentation delivery, QC tools, Lean Management principles, problem-solving and decision-making, innovation methodologies, and project management
• Prior project or internship experience in innovation initiatives, AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) systems, or equivalent technical projects
• Working knowledge of HDD (Hard Disk Drive) process and technology, HDD quality management systems, ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols, and contamination control
• Demonstrated proficiency in English communication (both written and spoken)
