Job Description
The Maintenance Engineer/Specialist, as the process equipment electrical and mechanical expert, provides maintenance and engineering support for small to medium size manufacturing plants. This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for all maintenance and engineering work for the plant.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the safe performance of all maintenance and project work.
- Provides direction to maintenance team in support of plant objectives.
- Sets standards for reliability and continuous improvement of equipment.
- Oversees instrumentation and electrical (I & E) maintenance work on a daily basis.
- Understands and complies with contractual agreements with other site companies.
- Implements and maintains e-maintenance system.
- Implements and maintains appropriate equipment PM's and calibrations.
- Analyzes instrumentation, electrical and mechanical maintenance work and resolves repetitive problems.
- Recommends new equipment and/or preventative techniques to improve reliability.
- Provides PLC (program logic controls) installation, programming, and troubleshooting expertise.
- Develops and implements a plan to upgrade the knowledge and skill set of the maintenance craftsmen.
- Available to assist craftsmen with maintenance emergencies.
- Manages capital projects.
- Manages and approves work performed by outside contractors.
- Manages maintenance and capital budget.
- Responsible for applicable code and compliance requirements for maintenance and project work.
Physical/Environ. Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or
caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
