Teaching English in Thailand – FAQs

How long has this school been hiring for TEFL jobs in Thailand

SINE Education has been hiring TEFL teachers in Thailand since 2010, growing from just 3 partner schools to more than 50 schools across Bangkok, central Thailand and the country's north east today. This makes SINE an established, trusted provider of English language teaching support – and a great place to build a long-term TEFL career.

Do I need to create my own lesson plans when I teach English in Thailand

No – SINE Education provides everything a teacher requires, so you won't need to create your own lesson plans. For every class, teachers receive a complete set of teacher notes, student books and a lesson-specific PowerPoint presentation, plus full access to all the technology needed to deliver an engaging lesson. SINE Education also creates and provides all tests, so assessment periods are fully supported too.

What training is offered to prepare me for English language teaching in Thailand

All new SINE teachers receive paid training in central Bangkok, delivered twice a year in May and October. The course thoroughly prepares you to teach the SINE programmes, and also gives you a practical overview of daily life in Thailand and what to expect working inside a Thai government school.

Is there ongoing support for TEFL teachers in Thailand

Yes – SINE's instructors, management, academic team, operations team, IT team and sales team are all on hand to help throughout your placement, should you ever need support. Teachers are also observed in the classroom at least once per semester, with any further bespoke coaching provided at that time, and every partner school has a dedicated SINE coordinator acting as your day-to-day link between you and the school.

Who can work as an English teacher in Thailand

People from many walks of life teach English in Thailand with SINE – from newly qualified and returning teachers to recent graduates and career-changers looking for a meaningful second chapter. Some teach for a single year as an adventure, while others stay on long-term; SINE's teaching community is deliberately diverse, and that mix is part of what makes the classroom experience so dynamic for young Thai learners.

How much money can I earn teaching English in Thailand

SINE English conversation teachers earn a monthly salary starting at THB 33,000, paid directly into your bank account on the last working day of each month, plus a THB 20,000 completion incentive at the end of a full 10-month term. Overtime is also available at THB 300 per hour for any teaching beyond 24 hours a week, and teachers placed in the greater Bangkok area receive an additional THB 2,000 monthly allowance to reflect the slightly higher cost of living.

What do I need to know about accommodation in Thailand

Accommodation in Thailand is generally inexpensive, and new SINE teachers are given a guide to housing options in their placement area on arrival. In central Bangkok, rents typically range from THB 4,500 to THB 8,000 per month depending on the area and proximity to the BTS Skytrain, while rural placements can start from around THB 3,500 per month.

Will I get assistance with a work permit

Yes – SINE's dedicated FTA (Foreign Teacher Administration) team handles your work permit and visa process from start to finish, including a one-to-one conversation at training to review your current visa status and answer any concerns. The process can take four months or longer depending on the local authority and school, so a longer wait isn't a sign anything has gone wrong.
