Role SummaryThe Field Applications Scientist (FAS) serves as the primary scientific authority and technical bridge between Velgen Technik and our clinical, academic, and biotech partners. This is a high-impact role for a molecular biology expert who enjoys combining bench-level technical proficiency with strategic customer consultation.
As Velgen Technik is a regional leader, this role offers a unique opportunity for cross-border collaboration and professional development, including supporting our expansion across South East Asia and receiving specialized training at our global centers of excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Consultation: Act as the Expert Voice during the pre-sales process, identifying customer research goals and troubleshooting experimental bottlenecks.
- Scientific Execution: Design and perform bench-top demonstrations and Proof of Concept (PoC) studies, specifically focusing on NGS workflows, DNA/RNA extractions, and library preparation.
- Regional Support: Provide on-site technical expertise and troubleshooting support for key projects across South East Asia, collaborating with regional teams to ensure consistent service quality.
- Customer Onboarding: Lead installations and provide comprehensive technical training to lab staff, ensuring seamless integration of our equipment into their workflows.
- Knowledge Leadership: Represent Velgen Technik at international seminars and symposia, presenting data-driven talks and organizing regional webinars.
Essential Requirements- Education: Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or a related field. A Master's or PhD is a significant advantage.
- Technical Expertise: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in:
- NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) workflows.
- DNA and RNA extraction techniques.
- NGS Library Preparation.
- Basic and advanced molecular biology techniques.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of both English and Thai (written and spoken) is mandatory.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication skills with a teacher mindset and a keen interest in learning new technologies.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to understand complex customer requirements and troubleshoot technical failures.
- Mobility: Ability and willingness to travel regionally (SEA) and internationally for training and project support.
