    Field Assistant for Wildlife Habitat Improvement in Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex

    Budget: 100,000 THB (20,000 THB / month )

    WWF Began Working In Thailand In 1983 And Established Its Country Office In 1995. For More Than Two Decades, WWF-Thailand Has Focused On Elephant Conservation And Mitigating Human-elephant Conflict Through Initiatives Such As

    • Developing early warning systems for wild elephant movement
    • Strengthening and building capacity for Kuiburi's community-based wildlife eco-tourism groups
    • Supporting local livelihood groups
    • Improving wildlife habitats and food sources

    WWF-Thailand also works on tiger conservation through camera trap monitoring, providing technical and financial support for SMART patrols, and promoting community education and engagement for sustainable conservation.

    Major Responsibilities

    The consultant will support both field-based and technical work related to wildlife conservation and habitat management, focusing on improving habitats and food resources within grassland restoration areas. Key responsibilities include:

    • Planning and implementing field activities in coordination with Kui Buri and Kaeng Krachan National Park staff
    • Site preparation, installation, and maintenance of field equipment
    • Monitoring wildlife use of restored grasslands using camera traps
    • Systematic collection of ecological data
    • Designing survey and monitoring methodologies
    • Managing and developing databases
    • Analyzing data using statistical and spatial techniques to evaluate restoration effectiveness
    • Preparing technical reports, presentations, and dissemination materials
    • Supporting other wildlife conservation initiatives within Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex

    Scope of Work

    • Support site preparation and maintenance of habitat improvement areas
    • Assist in installation and upkeep of field equipment
    • Collect ecological data and monitor wildlife use of restored habitats using camera traps
    • Coordinate with park staff and project team during field activities
    • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of field operations

    Contractor Duties

    • Field Implementation
    • Plan and execute habitat improvement activities
    • Coordinate closely with park staff
    • Prepare sites, install and maintain field equipment
    • Monitor wildlife use of restored grasslands using camera traps
    • Collect soil mineral samples in habitat and non-habitat areas with researchers
    • Collect ecological data systematically
    • Survey and Monitoring Design
    • Develop methodologies for wildlife surveys and habitat monitoring
    • Ensure protocols meet scientific standards and project objectives
    • Data Management and Analysis
    • Create and maintain ecological databases
    • Analyze data using appropriate statistical and spatial techniques
    • Reporting and Communication
    • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and progress
    • Develop presentations and dissemination materials for stakeholders
    • Contribute to knowledge-sharing
    • Collaboration and Support
    • Work in partnership with DNP and WWF teams
    • Support additional wildlife conservation activities within Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex

    Requirements

    Education and Qualification

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in conservation, forestry, natural resource management, environmental science, or related fields
    • Experience in project fieldwork and coordination with key partners

    Experience

    • Minimum 2 years of practical experience in research and field studies
    • Experience working in Thailand, especially in project areas
    • Experience collaborating with government officials and local communities
    • Experience in research coordination and training activities
